I found out there is new BIOS for my Hero VII.
Downloaded and was going to flash via UEFI/BIOS.

Selected file and there was error.
"Selected file is not proper BIOS"

Same thing occurs when i try to flash 2012 version.

So what now?

If you tried to install 2601 it is corrupted on the server and needs to be replaced by asus so leave it alone until it is corrected. I would leave well enough alone until they do that and then use the ez flash utility in the bios to perform the flash.
Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Wi-Fi Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master, AMD 3900X, EVGA 360 aio, 32gb G.Skill Trident Z Neo, Samsung 970 Pro NVME 512gb, WD Black NVME 1 TB, Crucial MX500 2tb, Zotac GTX 1080 AMP!, EVGA Nu Audio, CM HAF 932

If only 2601 is corrupted when why then same error occurs whit 2012?

what version you're currently on, because if you have the 2304 or 2401 will not let you down EZ flash bios mode, you'll have to do it behind the option Flashback port and rename the bios by M7H.CAP, and since you can lower the bios to 2012.

Im on 2401

From what I understand you ahve to use the usb flashback utility in order to roll back.

The same problem.

Returned for 2012 version through USB BIOS Flashback.

I had the same error as you. I flashed back to 2012 but still the same message... (File is not a proper BIOS file)...

It's very weird I agree. I solved the problem when I redownloaded 2601 files from another link. ( this one: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VII_HERO/HelpDesk_Download/ )

I placed the .cap file in the root of my SSD and restart the system pressing delete to enter the bios, flashed and it worked... (for me)

Weird enough i cant flash that file.Same error.
