Bios 4102 problems.

If this saves anyone one else headaches.

If your previously functioning system is causing problems and you are on bios 4102, go back to 4004... and all will be well again. 😉

What specific problems are you referring to?
Motherboard: RIVE (3602 bios)
CPU: Intel 3930K @4646MHz
OS Drive: 2 X Samsung 840 PRO (Raid 0)

It's probably all related to the PCH fan not spinning (cooling), so under any loads all hell breaks loose. 😉

I wonder if the PCH fan has been set to only spin up when heat gets to a particular threshold. But certainly there are enough folks who have ha d worries about the PCH fan not spinning up.

I was getting constant lockups and had to reset the mobo everytime with the pch fan issue. With my ghetto fix and now the fan spinning again with 4004 I haven't had any freezes.

I noticed the same thing with 4102 that the PCH fan was high lighted yellow in the fan monitor. It was set to auto by defalut, I just set it to user and now is working. p.s was not getting any lockup though.
