That question will be answered in a thousand different ways by a thousand different people. If you believe the ASUS changelog of "improves system stability" logically the latest!! By now by that logic this BIOS will survive nuclear war!

For Win 8 you will want 2105 and later and the latest BIOS 3xxx add support for GPU fast boot http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?30670-GOP-UEFI-BIOS-Available-for-ASUS-GeForce-GTX-680-Seri...

For OCing I have found that 2003 is a great BIOS but that is for my system and my OCing and benchmarking on win 7

So don't believe anyone's answers to this question...including mine;)

Exactly said Arne. The best bios is exactly the one that is most stable for that and only that specific board.c.

It's the hardest question to answer. For me 3602 is the best now.

Like it was already stated it depends on what your needs are. Personally I'd stay far away from the 2xxx versions as I've personally seen issues with them and I've seen threads about them as well (In my particualr hardware configuration I can not reboot any of the 2xxx versions properly).
Use 3xxx versions if you use Win8, if not you can also use 1xxx versions. If overclockability is your requirement you'd have to test versions yourself with your particular hardware combination. If stability is your main concern, the latest versions incorporate more fixes.

Unfortunately there's not a catchall answer for this question.

I've noticeable that

BIOS 0XXX are series of pioneer bios to open the true power of platform and Maximum O/C Challenge with it.

BIOS 1XXX working best for C1 step CPU after microcode update from intel to fixed tiny erratum issue such as "Intel VT-d". They've firmly shut to C1 step CPU @ microcode state and granted open "Intel VT-d" function for C2 step CPU.

BIOS 2XXX are the series of BIOS that ASUS team trying to make sure their products will be "WINDOWS 8 READY" . Not target maximum O/C at all. They want the stability for the new OS. So we'll see " improve system stability " oftenly around this period.

BIOS 3XXX are far optimized for new feature of Intel Management Engine and Intel Gbe firmware. It's leap step from 2XXX due ASUS targeting full UEFI 2.3 support for Windows 8 secure boot feature. So there is no heaven for Overclocker this stage. Many issue has been trying to fix but not yet all. Intel 12.X OROM has been implement for CSM mode targeting improve SSD RAID 0 system performance with Intel RST and ofcourse "TRIM" supported.

Please correct me if anyone has different opinion. Welcome to discuss. 😉

Very nice answer R4E3960X
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

LOL... I'm still on BIOS 1005 🙂

I'm still with Win 7 and haven't found a better BIOS yet. 17 months of stability at 5Ghz on this BIOS.

Like mama always said, "if it ain't broke...."
