AVX and adaptive voltage jumping

Yes i know that its suppose to happen. Recently i have been ding my encodes a bit differently. I am using win movie maker to encode wmv's to mp4 at highest setting. 140mb becomes 2.25gb. then i use Handbrake to compress the 'f out of it to get below the original file size. But something different about these files isa killing my oc. my vcore is 1.265-1.270 when encoding it goes to 1.28-285. Sometimes i would see a jump to 300-310. These files are making it jump 1.31 a lot and sometimes 1.35.

What i am looking for is a way to soften this jump. I have tried playing with vdroop and some of the other power stabilizer settings but no luck. Any thoughts?

Ohhh btw temps are 78-82 the jumps can make it hit 88-91 but its not sustained but i still don't like it.

album with bios screen shots. before the vdroop changes. http://rog.asus.com/forum/album.php?albumid=267

As you suspect it would only be LLC and offsetting the Adaptive Vcore that would lower the peak adaptive AVX voltage. The jump in VID will still be what it is, you just either change the disparity between VID and VCC with LLC, or you set a lower adaptive voltage and fight instability either way. In other words, you probably don't have much room to keep your stability intact if you start fiddling with these settings and will probably have to live with this or use a manual Vcore.

Thinking more about what you said. Could you use adaptive set the offset on adaptive high but then set your adaptive lower? So basically the offset part would take care of OC then the adaptive would bring it down a bit for three heavy lifting?

LAME 😛 ...... I wonder what it is in these windows movie maker files that makes it go crazy. Anyways thx for the reply Raja..... your still my hero.

You can do what i do when running AVX programs on adaptive mode i just use AI Suite 3 to change it from adaptive to manual after im finished i put it back to adaptive.

That's a great idea. Didn't even cross my mind b/c every time I think about settings reboot is my first thought.

Ohh something else I noticed. For a while I have been setting my CPU power phase control to standard. The Intel settings did a bit better for me in encoding. I set it back to Asus optimized and while the jump was still there it was greatly subdued. 1.3-1.31. It stopped making that huge second jump up. This I can deal with. I built this OC with avx in mind on purpose to push the cpu when its getting hammered.
