Hello,
I just bought components for a new gaming PC and am having problems starting the computer.
This is my setup:
Asus Z87-PRO
Intel Core i7-4770K
Patriot Viper 3 16GB DDR3 PC-17000 2133MHz (PV316G213C1K) (2x8GB)
Samsung 840 Pro Series SSD 128GB SATA3
Zalman ZM750-HP
I thought that my somewhat old PSU should work fine with the new motherboard, but when plugging it in and pressing the start button the computer only powers on briefly (0.5 to 10 seconds) and then restarts.
I have tried with and without CPU, with one stick of RAM in different slots and also with my older DDR3 ram (OCZ Platinum 4GB DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz (OCZ3P1600EB4GK) (2x2GB)).
The 8-pin and 24-pin connectors are securely fastened to the motherboard.
Also my PSU works fine with my older ASUS P5Q3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP @n motherboard (tested this several times afterwards).
I thought the problem was with the motherboard so I returned it to the store (RMA), where they confirmed that it was faulty and then I got another one. The thing is I'm having the same problem with the new motherboard, only difference is it usually takes a few extra seconds before it restarts.
I found a few similar posts (and the solution seemed to be RMA):
