ASUS X99 STRIX installed, USB-Ports not working after bootsequence

Hello,
yesterday I installed the ASUS X99 STRIX into my Computer along with the i7-6800k and 16GB DDR4 RAM 3200mhz from Corsair. After I startet the computer and the bootsequence for Windows was complete none of my USB-Ports worked, neither 3.0 or 2.0. So I experimented a bit with the xHCI Modes and EHCI in the BIOS but nothing really fixed it. The 3.1 Controller is also enabled. BIOS is updated and the new Chipsetdrivers and USB driver are installed.
With a ps/2 mouse I could install Windows10 completly new and it did work for like 2 restarts but after I entered my prdouct key for the Windows Education Version (I got the Key from the msdnaa student site) it restartet again and after that again no USB device worked...

The Q-Code on the motherboard says "AA" but I've read that this means All is Well.
The PWR_LED is also lighting red but in the manual it says that this is only a power indicator.

I hope someone can help me here, I alerady posted this into other Forums but nothing fixed it yet.

Hi Dude,

Yesterday i had the same exact problem with my x99 strix gaming... after 2hours of reading forums and trying to fix this issue i decided to simply re-instal windows 10 and the magiracle happened... actually its fixed it self.

All together i assumed that it was because of some win10 bugs, nothing with chipset or any other driver, since i had working mouse and keyboard till the windows started to load in. ( in bios or in windows setup - you know, when you restart windows like 2143213 times and it comes up with this repairt stuff- both mouse and keyboard were functional)

EDITED: i didnt activate my win now, the previous one was activated with kms... 🙂

Regards.

The same thing is happening to me now! Except I just reinstalled Windows, and now after about 20 some odd hours of use the problem is back. WTF. If I turn XHCI to disabled everything works, but with it Enabled, Auto or Smart Auto no USB ports work.... HELP!

Hi, I was wondering if there was any resolution to this issue?
So far with xHCI enabled / auto / smart auto (basically anything other than Disabled) I have no USB functionality in Windows 10 x64 at all.

I've read a lot of threads about this, so far I've:

Updated the BIOS to latest version
Tried installing new intel chipset drivers
Updated USB controller software in Windows Device Manager
Updated ASUS AI Controller software to 3.1 with "USB Boost"

Basically nothing works, USB does not work at all in Windows 10 with xHCI enabled.
I've reinstalled Windows 10 3 times now... there won't be a fourth - the board + chip etc will have to go back.

Can someone provide some actual help, this appears to be a Windows 10 issue rather than anything else.

Thanks
Paul

Do a search on YouTube for: "x99 fix usb ports not working" (no quotes) and see if any of those help.
If per chance you find the solution, please leave a note here.

Thanks...

Guys!! I am so glad to find a pots like this.
I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE SINCE I BOUGHT THIS MOBO!

Almost every 4 months when I boot, I got caught up with this.
System restore does not work, sfc , chkdsk

the only solution is a fresh install... 😞 😞 😞

Its really frustrating, so does anyone have a workaround for this?

I was thinking:
1. buy a ps2 keyboard for emergencies\
2. let teamviewer running on background to access remotely and fix the driver issue

Well, I solved it! I used Razer Blackwidow Chroma and a P/S 2 adapter.
I went to bios and enable USB charge to connect my keyboard for power and other USB cable to P/S 2.
Then I uninstall USB controller drivers and reinstall it. And it worked!
