Hi all,
First time post and with a question; I hope you regular visitors forgive that, but I assembled a new rig last week…
Advice would be welcomed here, on how to control the base frequency and/or how switching could be better optimized between base and turbo!
Here’s the issue.
I overclocked my I7-5820K on my ASUS X99/Deluxe to 4.5GHz (1.312V – I’ve got water cooling) and it runs stable on AIDA64 Extreme, which is all that I was asking for (BTW, got the latest BIOS 1702 installed).
At low load, the CPU is automatically tuned down to 1.2 GHz with a core voltage of 0.72. That is pretty lame; simple tasks (Internet Explorer e.g.) show slow response occasionally.
My system seems reluctant to step up to its new maximum settings: with the 3DMark it does go all the way turbo (which is logical) but PCMark8 gives unsatisfactory results for a rig of these specs; it doesn’t switch to high gear a good deal of the benchmark time.
I failed to find the appropriate BIOS setting for switching faster between base frequency and turbo frequency. I overlooked it maybe, or maybe that does not exist. But if it does not, then I would like to pull up my “base frequency” to about 2GHz for a more comfortable feeling on low demand tasks; yet I could not find any BIOS settings for that either!
Believe me: I have searched through your forum first, before posting this message. I could have overlooked an earlier discussion so pls don’t take offense if I am reiterating an unknown earlier subject.
The question is therefore: How can I tune this better?
Thank you for reading!
