ASUS STRIX X370-F GAMING Q-FAN is bug, vcore manual 1.35 bug, support ticket ignored.

Just sharing issues encountered with this POS bios 813/board.

Bug 1 - Q-FAN RPM bug

2x Scythe GrandFleX PWMs plugged into the mobo CPU/CPU opt. headers.
Q-FAN in UEFI set to maximum 60% at 60C.
When 100% loaded in IBT/OCT and temps are below 52C, fans still go up to max RPM which is super noisy.

Bug 2 - AIO header bug

IDCooling Auraflow 240 plugged to the AIO header of this mobo.
UEFI fan control for this header set to disabled.

And it still regulates the RPM - until one fine day I came home to find the system off.
Logs from HWINFO show temp went to 105C and thermal shutdown happened.
Logs also show AIO header RPM dropped to 0. WTF!?!

Replug pump into fan header, still no activity detected.
Plug pump header to a 3pin to molex power converter, and the pump comes alive.

Bug 3 - VCORE >= 1.35 multiplier bug.

Ryzen 7 1700 CPU voltage set to manual and at any level greater or equal to 1.35 VCORE, 37 or 38 multiplier.
Windows 10 shows speeds of 3700Mhz or 3800Mhz respectively, depending on multiplier used.
But CPU-Z, HWINFO shows actual speeds of only 1550Mhz.
Cinebench R15 CPU benches also show results indicative of 1550Mhz performance. That's because damn bios multi is actually somehow locked to 15.5 multiplier.

I have reported bug 3 via support chat, followed up via email, but always get back generic email asking me to describe the problem. I gave bios pics and step by step to reproduce the issue. You need to hire better bios engineers.

After 6 official BIOS releases, you still can't get it right - and this is after all the other early adopters experienced this on the Crosshair VI.

Seems like Asus wants to concentrate on Intel offerings instead of AMD stuff.

If you going for Ryzen build, maybe pick another vendor. Hope this helps other people in deciding what to buy.

Asus should just stop selling AMD boards and don't waste our time.

I belive the overclocking bug is fixed with bios 817, at least is was for me currently at 39 miltiplier and 1.4 volts

Q-fan is still bugged, aio pump control disabled, or manual set to 100 on any cycle, RPM keeps getting regulated..

Yes Q-Fan is still bugged on BIOS 902.

Other bugs for BIOS 902 are:

1) Vcore manual mode above 1.4x is bugged to hell - can't remember exact - all results in no POST.
2) Vcore offset mode for total of 1.525V will still result in 15.5 multiplier being set - yes i know, super high and unsafe but this is still a bug.
3) DDR4 3200 speeds on Hynix M-die CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 are no longer stable at 38 multi - use to be solid.

Again what did BIOS 902 bring to the table that was better than 810?
The new AGESA ver. B feels like a step backwards.

UPDATE: after further testing, found that I was not able to be stable in OCCT at stock cpu clock at DDR4 3200 speeds at any voltage on BIOS 902.
Revert to BIOS 817 and same issue. Crashing like no tomorrow within OCCT.

Revert to BIOS 810 and 100% stable.

While I have nothing bad to say, I will admit that I noticed this right away when I was researching boards.

When I went to browse the forum I noticed there were like 5 forums for specific boards/chipsets and all the AMD content gets lumped into “Other Boards.”

Also I was intrigued when I learned about the 3D printing support, but sorely disappointed when I saw all of the available 3D models were compatible only for the intel mobos.

I guess the research will continue.
