Hi all,

Following the massive price drop, I am going to order an FX9590 (€300). Is this CPU going to work on my motherboard - Sabertooth 990FX rev. 1 with the latest official BIOS version, 1604?

EllusionSK - if performance is your key priority may I ask a very blunt question? Why AMD then?

Because of money. Yes in my previous post I said money isn't a issue but that was because I would be using the same AM3+ board that I already own. I already thought about building an Intel system but it would be well over $2k (building what I want). With that being said, I was wondering if putting the 9590 in my existing system board would be worth it. Right now I have a 1100T BE. Would upgrading from a 1100T to a 9590 really be worth it? I am not 100% sure. I've always built AMD and never had an issue. I am not a "fanboy" but I was put off by Intel many many years ago. I was about to put a thread on the build advice thread about going from the 1100T to the 9590 or even a 8350.

If you go have a look at the Autumn Folly benching challenge I held last month you will see that Chris cleaned up the newer AMD CPUs in single threaded applications with his 1100T 😄 Food for thought.

Hey sorry to up this thread but i was thinking about getting the 9370 and not the 9590 and i also have the Rev 1 board.

I would upgrading from a 1075t so the performance boost is considerable. over 5k on passmark due to their latest benchmarks.

its 199 on newegg right now compared to 300+ for the 9590.

Ive been waiting to upgrade to the FX chips, so is it safe to assume the 9370 will work if the 9590 did and the bios is updated to 1064??

Yes it is safe to assume that.
