ASUS ROG Strix B550-E - Problems with Intel I225-V Ethernet Adapter!?!

Hi

since 1-2 weeks i have been using the "ASUS ROG Strix B550-E Gaming" Motherboard with a "AMD Ryzen 5900X" CPU - except high temperatures iam happy with that kind of combination because i had no problems. Yesterday Windows 10 automatically updated my "Intel Ethernet Controller 1225-V" from v1.0.1.4 to v1.0.2.6 - after that update the Ethernet Adapter randomly disappears during high CPU load. Now iam asking myself if its maybe a problem between the Beta-BIOS and a new driver or do I have a broken mainboard? Is this bug known? What can i do? Within the next 3 days I can return the mainboard for free but i dont want to.

My (Main-) System:
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X || ASUS ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING (Beta BIOS v1212) || ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360 with 3x Noctua NF-F12 PWM chromax.black.swap (FRONT) || Gainward GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Phoenix Golden Sample 11GB GDDR5X || G.Skill Trident Z 16GB DDR4 3600Mhz CL15-15-15-35 || Samsung 970 EVO Plus 250GB + Crucial MX500 2TB || Western Digital Green 2TB 2.5" || be quiet! Straight Power 10 CM 600W || Fractal Define R6 Blackout (3x 120mm AIO intake, 1x 140mm outtake)

I also have a second system. Same mainboard but with a AMD Ryzen 3600 and BIOS v1202 (FINAL) - same problems with INTEL driver v1.0.2.6.

I have same exact problem with the ITX ROG Strix B550-I motherboard, I'm using compact Cisco SG110D-08 8-port gigabit switch and the Intel I225-V v2 is not playing well with it, I constantly would get packet loss from time to time and see NIC disconnected in Windows event logs when playing e.g. Battlefield 5. After days of trying to figure out what's going on, re-crimping cat5 ethernet cables, testing other cables, trial & error, and heaps of troubleshooting I got the I225 NIC to play will with Netgear GS108Tv2 switch.

These type of bugs, whether it is Asus, Intel I225-V v2, or Win10 driver fault are making me very uncomfortable and are very worried. How such thing ever passed quality testing? The ROG Strix B550-I has already gave lots of other headaches with primary NVMe 4.0 disk disappearing upon wakeup from sleep causing Win10 to hard crash, not to mention the hell I went with getting Realtek and Sonic Studio III and Armoury Crate working.

OP I would encourage you to contact Asus to make them aware of the problem.

The problem is back and I cannot find a solution... it must be the I225-V Controller:

https://wccftech.com/intel-foxville-i225-v-2-5gbe-networking-issues-persist-z490-motherboards-affect...

...Asus is using the same version (and revision) of the I225-V on B550-F/E/I !!!

@fatalhalt : thank you for your response! Finally iam not alone! As you can see its not just a combination with that kind of switch, its a generell issue with I225-V.

Just for your information: every day more and more users reporting this problem in multiple forums. there also is a support-thread in the intel community - https://community.intel.com/t5/Ethernet-Products/I225-V-Packet-losses-after-Windows-update/m-p/12305...

Maybe we need a statement from asus too. What will they do with this bugy kind of intel I225-V chip? Sometimes it feels like thats not only the driver which is to blame - it could be mainboard-voltages or temperature sensitivity of the intel-chip.

Hi. I see that it is quite while since you posted your Intel Ethernet Controller 1225 experience.

I had the same with a ASUS ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING I bought fall last year (2022). The ENet connection was working, but sometimes lost connection and it was difficult to get it back to work. Sometimes it was not even possible to restart the Ethernet Adapter (Code 10) and I had to use wireless.

I received the board with Firmware ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING BIOS 2803. I use an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU. I experienced the problem as described until ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING BIOS 3002. Yesterday I found, that there is a new BIOS version: ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING BIOS 3202.

I updatet the BIOS to this version (3202). Guess what: My Ethernet connection works now absolutel perfect! All problems are gone!

Now i'm absolutely happy with this powerful board

I hope this is helpfull to anybody who is having the same difficulties
