ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (Wi-Fi) can't wake from sleep

Pottypotsworth

Hi guys,

I originally purchased this motherboard back in 2001 and since that time I have had constant power issues with it. Essentially,

1) Unless I disable S5 then the machine will never boot after shutdown unless the power supply is turned off or the plug pulled

2) The machine will almost never wake from Windows sleep

I have done literally every troubleshooting tip in existence. I have changed the power supply, I have upgraded from Windows 10 to 11 with a fresh install, I have updated the BIOS to the latest 5002 version, but nothing ever fixes the issue.

I can only summise that since this doesn't seem to corrolate with any other hardware issue, nor a OS/software issue then there must be a factory based issue with the MOBO.

BIOS Tweaks Enable ErP, disable CSM, configure USB/power wake settings
Device Manager Ensure wake is allowed for input/network devices
Fast Startup Off Prevent hybrid shutdown conflicts
Sleepstudy + Devicequery Find wake blockers or missing wake devices
🔄 Test S3 Sleep After changes, put to Sleep and try waking via keyboard/mouse
🔚 Optional Disable Global C-State Control if nothing else works

All the above has been done, and it doesn't make any difference to what BIOS settings you change, the issue remains.

Do I have any options to ever get this fixed?

Thanks
