ASUS refurbished motherboard (Impact VII)

Hi guys,

I bought a refurbished Impact VII motherboard which arrived this morning. The seller stated this has been refurbished by ASUS but I'm not 100% sure if this is true.

After close inspection of the board and comparing with other photographs, I have noticed a small component is missing from the back of the VRM board PCB. I will need to order a CPU to test the board to make sure it's working but I thought I would ask in the mean time. Does anyone know what these are for?

Also, is there any way to confirm whether the motherboard has been officially refurbished by ASUS?

It looks like two blocks are removed that were soldered on. Not a good sign! I would be surprised if this board booted up.

Comparing the photo to this one it looks like the bottom SMD is missing and top one where it looks like something is missing should indeed be empty.

I have contacted the seller who insists this motherboard has been refurbished by ASUS. Is there any way to check this?

No serious business would receive, refurbish and redistribute an item with no papertrail. There will be a workorder somewhere. Note the serial of the board and ask Asus suport.

Yeah thanks, I have taken some photos and put together an email and sent it over to support. Hopefully it won't take too long to hear back.

Are refurbished motherboards identified in some way (Box stycker, etc?)

Was hoping someone would be able to answer that. The box seems to have a few stickers added to it. So far would seem strange to say a product has been reconditioned when it has missing PCB components as shown in the image. One of the stickers is a round red one which makes me wonder if this is a colour coding relevant to the condition of the board. Are any mods able to comment and/or advise?
