Asus Rampage IV Extreme - no debug code

Hi everyone.

I'am having some trouble with a rampage IV Extreme.
My mb is a Rampage IV Formula actually, but a friend of mine gave me a Rampage IV Extreme to test (so it's not a new one)

Hardware is:
-Core I7 3820
- DDR3 Gskill 4 x 2Gb F3-17000CL9Q-8GBZH (Quad channel kit)
- PSU Tagan piperock 700w tg700-bz
- Evga GTX 980 Ti classified

This hardware on the IV Formula works fine.

Instead I put the cpu ,1 stick only DDR and the Vga on the Extreme, powering (the first time) only the 24 pin and 8pin 12V, then also the 4pin 12V (for the cpu) and the 6pin for the pci-e. The motherboard start but this is what happen:

- NO debug code display (nothing)
- Cpu fan is spinning (so the mb has power)
- The two vga fans start a bit (really slowly) then stopped, then restart in few second,..and so on (they can't be initialized apparently)
- CPU_LED red light is on
- Voliminder LED: DRAM_AB and VSA green led stay on
- No VGA signal.

Is the MB dead? Is it the psu? doesn't it likes Gskill DDR (voltage or something)? What can I Try?

Thanks

Hi Poliphilo

Welcome to the ROG forum.

No q-code is usually a sign of a faulty psu or motherboard.

Some things to try:

Double check the 24-pin main power cable is secured.
Update/reflash the bios.
Take the motherboard out of the case and try it as a test bench with minimal components.

Hi Nate152.

Also the chipset fan doesn't start.
Tagan psu works fine on the Formula, that's strange. I also tried another PSU (powerless but new): Corsair CX500M. Same problem.
The motherbard is out on the bench. Tried all this thing: no cpu, cpu with 1 ddr, with 4 ddr, without vga, with vga, clear cmos,....

I tried to flash the bios by usb key and rog connect, don't know if the procedure is correct:
- Downloaded the last bios from the site (Rampage-IV-Extreme-ASUS-4901)
- Renamed R4E.ROM
- Formatted the usb key FAT 32
- Put the R4E.ROM file on the usb key
- Connected 24 pin, 8pin 12V and nothing else (no cpu, no ram, nothing)
- Power up the psu
- Inserted USB key on the rog connect usb port (the white one)
- Holded down for more than 3 sec the Rogue Connect Button

(I didn't understand if I have use the cap converter before..)

No amber light near the BIOS chips flashed. Nothing happened.

What about Voliminder LED?

DRAM_AB and VSA or VCORE GND green led stay on (look at the picture). Doesn't it means something wromg with voltage
