Asus Rampage IV Black Edition + Auto Tuning Question

I am very interested in buying this board, but I have a question I hope you (owners of RIVBE or Asus Reps) can answer. Bold one below.

I am curious about one of its features, 4-Way Optimization. I read that performs Auto Tuning, which automatically overclocks the CPU to within ~95% of its potential, a process that typically could take up to 2 days to manually overclock.

Example of 4-Way Optimization:
1-Click Overclock to 4.8Ghz - 4-Way Optimization: http://youtu.be/BoaAT5TkXc4?t=12m6s

It would be useful for hardcore gamers, who have no time to tune manually. They want that program to achieve 95% of the way with minimal effort.

This auto-tuning can provide power efficiency, meaning core voltage is not fixed. That voltage is fluctuating - energy saving. Having both energy saving + overclocking is something I like to have.

I heard that Republic of Gamer version only has generic 4.2, 4.4 and 4.6ghz stages, there is no dynamic options (that video or screenshot below the autotuning is shown with a few different options, Ratio Only, BCLK First etc and it runs a cycle on the TPU section to find a stable clock.). Can you please confirm if RIVBE's 4-Way has dynamic options or just generic 4.2, 4.4, and 4.6ghz stages?

Dynamic Options

Generic three Stages (4.2, 4.4, and 4.6ghz)

Not sure there are enough folks with the board at the minute to help you out mate. I will try to but my board on the test bench but there are heaps of other support questions ahead of yours, as yours is an information request not a fix for a problem it does not take precedence.

Free bump.

I got the answer from someone at OC forum.

It has the generic, but not the dynamic options, as far as I could find.

Edit: it's not 4.2, 4.4, 4.6. It's 4.017, 4.125, 4.250.

This answer may affect your buying decision. 😉

It would be nice if next-gen boards will have the dynamic options. I like to OC manually as well.

The Black Edition board is really aimed at the user who only OC's manually to be fair. If you need to or want to have a automatic OC then the RIVE BE is not for that user in my view. It is a performance tweakers board pure and simple.

The RIVBE has static fixed options of 4.1Ghz, 4.3Ghz and 4.5Ghz for a 4960X.
It ran the auto tune successfully 1st time at 4.5Ghz for me, though it didnt change the ram. (ram still 1066)

Interesting! Thanks for sharing!

I am looking forward to seeing what Asus ROG can do with auto OC in next gen boards.

Then why did Asus implement 4-Way Optimization in RIVE BE in first place? I find it a bit strange.

Getting my Black Edition tomorrow, I hope it can find the ceiling for my CPU automatically.

Has anyone gotten around to trying if this works?

I don't buy the excuse that this is a board for people that want to do things manually. I don't think anyone spends 500 usd not to have options.

Try if what work? The auto overclocking presets work fine with average or better CPUs.
