Stinoo

Dear asus fans,

System:
Asus maximus ranger vii
i5 4690K
Crucial ballistix 2x4gb
Sapphire Ati 7950
1 Samsung evo SSD
1 Samsung F3 1TB HDD
Corsair 620w PSU

I just installed the motherbord, cpu and ram.
Its all connected perfectly and everything looks good in the bios.

However i get a 'bootmgr is missing' error. When i do boot, i get a BSOD error: 0x00007b
The motherbord red code says A2 when i cant boot at all (bootmgr is missing) and when i do get to my Windoes Boot Manager it says the code AE

How do i solve this?:(
I know my HDD and SSD are fine and so is my windows 7 installation.

I tried all boot orders but it wont help..

Any ideas? Much appreciated!

The Win7 instalation is fresh? Did you with this new computer? Be sure, your SSD as primary is in AHCI mode in Advanced settings (PCH storage settings or so is named). And you can controil, if SSD is visible in BIOS

Thanks for the reply!

The SSD is primary boot device and also in AHCI mode.

The Windows 7 installation is like 5 months old.
I think a fresh install is needed since i changed my motherbord and cpu.

Sad but the Only solution i guess 😞

Yeah, you can go from Z87 to Z97, I tried it, maybe from Z67 to Z97 too, but not from older chipsets...

I actually come from a Foxconn A7DA-S + AMD Phenom ii X4 840 BE.
Fresh install it is! I'll try it when I get home.

Can I hook my SSD up to my laptop so i can install Windows 7 much more easily, or must the SSD be attached to my new desktop at all times when I install a fresh copy of Windows 7

Thanks again for the response 🙂

the best way will be fresh copy of WIndows at new PC (and after this, you dont forget install drivers for chipset, LAN and audio)

Alright thanks Flank3r.

Sadly my very old DVD Drive has no sata connection so I cant connect it to my Asus Ranger.
I'll try to create a bootable Windows 7 installation on a USB stick.

Use the Microsoft USB tool downloaded from Microsoft.

Much quicker than any DVD method and easy to do.

Thanks a lot everyone.

I used isotousb.com to make my USB stick bootable and reinstalled Windows 7.
I first tried restoring it but it was beyond restoring.

Everything is up and running now, I'm typing on my brand new desktop, working like a charm.

Thanks again and this topic is closed 😄
