Hi ! 🙂

today i stress tested my PC because i updated my graphics driver. My room was completely silent and i realized that a pitchy noise came from the VRM under load. My PC is a silent system, so i can hear it if i not wear my headset. Is this normal? Should i replace my motherboard or should i buy another PSU ?
Everthing is working fine, no problmems at all.

Thank you and sorry for my english.

Hi,

try to enable v-sync. Should help. I tried to get an answere here to this into past, but it seems nobody can explain that
issue. You ll find some clueless with that same here at the board or at google.

What i can say, its not your mainboard, this is my third(had 2 from another manufacturer before) and it can destroy it if
you ignore that pitching noise. For me the buzzing starts around 130-140 fps. Only way is to hold the fps under this
limit, by v-sync, driver(DFRC) or Gamesettings/startup parameters).

IMHO its caused by your CPU(got the same devils canyon btw). Its an increasingly Bug since Sandybridge and yes, Bug, be-
cause we two are a minority. Not sure if that is an rma case, didnt tried it yet.

Thank you for your reply.

Vsync is on, i'm playing on a 144Hz Monitor.
early in the morning i disconnected everthing (GPU, soundcard, case fans) even my psu and moved it outside my case to make sure it comes from the motherboard and yes it's there.

I double checked my screws, checked my motherboard, checked my backplate from CPU cooler, checked my PSU connections and everthing seems Ok at this point.

Later i will perform a cmos reset, maybe this will help.

EDIT: yes it's caused by the cpu, i think it's "cpu whining"
This is so annoying...if it persists i will test another PSU (Corsair AX1200i) if that didnt help i will buy another motherboard because RMA takes too long and i need my computer for work also.

Update: tested corsair AX1200i same issue. i disabled c states in bios now it is a little bit better 🙂

Can anyone explain to me how i use the red Clear CMOS button ? Thank you! 🙂

Edit 2: what do you mean "and it can destroy it if
you ignore that pitching noise" this can destroy my mainboard? 😕

Still coilwine with v-sync? I would say RMA your CPU or try another MB with. Your depiction
sounds much heavier than mine trouble on. As i said, it begins around 130-140fps for me,
and yes, before that ROG i had 2 asrock MB, both died- but maybe died is a bad term; i had
permantly BsoDs after a while because i ignored that buzzing and had to rma both.

My cpu is fine tested on 2 other motherboards 5 hour prime95 test no whining. I put it back to my maximus vii hero and the whining starts so I will buy another motherboard today and a new psu to be 100% on the safe side. Tested my I74790k on a G1 z97 sniper.

Problem solved. No more whining . Changed motherboard 🙂
