Hello

I'm having a problem with my Asus Maximus V gene.
Its taking too long to boot (IMO), 21 seconds (vid below).
Windows starts within 12 seconds...

Any idea about what might cause this? Because I dont think its normal.

I got latest BIOS, tbh after last upgrade there was small improvement.
The only 1 setting I change in BIOS is memory OC from stock 1333 to 1600. Everything else is default.

System specs from AIDA64:

In the Windows search box type in "MSCONFIG" and press enter. Use the new box to disable and unnecessary programs from starting with Windows. Also make sure you do NOT have more than once Anti-Virus installed, this is a mistake that normally leads to crazy loading times as they conflict.

Yip as Thomas has said it is an OS issue and not a BIOS or motherboard problem. Once the system has handed over to the OS (12 secs) it is out of the control of the hardware and all OS.

Hey, thanks for quick reply.

I am not sure we understand eachother...

U mean to tell me long Motherboard boot [from 0:06 to 0:27 - check vid] is caused by OS?

I dont have problem with windows boot time, 12 is enough for me.
Its MB post time what bothers me. Time before system starts to load.

Its too damn long... 🙂

EDIT:// And about MSCONFIG I already removed some programs (I always do) and I have nothing @autostart except ASUS software, antivirus and steam.

I focused on that part. I do not have access to youtube at work. For me that statement means it takes 12sec from power on for windows to start. My bad 🙂

There are some things you can do with the BIOS settings depending on where you have your SATA devices connected. Plus any USB devices will add a second or two.

You say you have the latest BIOS could you give me the version number please.

My bad, I didn't write it clearly.

Bios version is 1204 (from 2012.08.10).

Thing is: after I turn on PC I see ROG logo for about 21 seconds, and then windows starts to load (which takes 12 sec).

The SSD and DVD are connected to Intel SATA port.

+ I have external HDD connected to USB, mouse, keyboard. USB wi-fi. (atm i dont have manual in my hand [Im @work aswell :)] so I cant tell which port are these connected to (Asmedia or Intel USB).

Ah, i see what you mean. Try clearing the CMOS and removing all USB and SATA devices (apart from Keyboard, Mouse and OS Drive). This will help identify if some of your equipment is causing the long post time.
