Asus Maximus V Extreme error code AE

Hi guys,

Trying to build my first pc:
Asus maximus V extreme
intel i7-3770k
6gb radeon hd 3990
16gb corsair vengeance ram
224gb ssd corsair neutron
1000w cooler master silent pro gold
bitfenix colossus case

I've put everything together and all the parts seem to be working fine when powered up but I get an error q-code "AE" which according to the manual means "legacy boot event". I have no idea what that means but I get no output via hdmi cable and i cant even get to the bios screen.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can you confirm that you have both the PSU connectors fitted to the graphic cards, and that your 12v CPU connectors are fitted.

The cables are inbuilt to the PSU and all cables are correctly inserted, I can see the fans on the graphics cards spinning and i can hear it working, the motherboard seems to be working as well judging by the qcodes and cpu fan. I don't have a vga cable to test, might go out and get one today 😕

Cables might be built into your PSU but they most certainly are not built into your VGA. Could you please confirm that both PCIe cables are connected to your graphics card. 🙂

Success! I needed 2 power connectors in the graphics card 🙂 Installing windows, thanks for all of your help! I never realised building a PC could be so frustrating

great, now I can't get the LAN to work 😞 the driver won't update itself *sigh*

Nope you have to use the driver on the DVD to load the LAN driver.

Pleased that you sorted the VGU issue. Rule of thumb if your PSU has the connector that can fit on your motherboard plug it in. The same for your VGA 🙂
