ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z/Gen3 BIOS recovery

Hey, recently I bought an M.2 NVME and a PCIE M.2 adapter for it. I wanted it to be the boot drive because I didn't want to have an HDD as a boot and system drive and didn't have a SATA SSD. I found modified BIOS for it to support NVMEs as boot drives, installed the one specifically for my motherboard, put the .ROM on a flash drive, opened the BIOS, used EZ FLASH 2 to read and update with the .ROM, did not interrupt it during installation and it automatically rebooted. However, now all my monitor shows is the HDMI/Analog symbols for around 30 seconds first and then a "Check the signal cable" warning. I can't get into BIOS. I have the manual and I tried to insert a USB flash drive with the BIOS for it but nothing happened. I also had the CD with the CrashFree3 Utility and it didn't help either. Could it be that the BIOS is actually fine and the update was successful, just the monitor cable happened to be faulty? Does anyone have experience with BIOS recovery on this (or a similar) motherboard? Many thanks.
