Asus Maximus Gene V - Restarts by itself when shut down

Last month I had this problem and i gave for service and they told it was motherboard's problem and I got my replacement last week. Today when i shut down, again the same thing started happening and now as before it is getting restarted when shut down all by itself.

I would like to know if this is just ordinary and what causes this to happen. I'm told that there wont be any more free replacement. Also is there any risk using the motherboard in this condition?

Let me see if I have understood.

Board shuts down no user.

Board then powers up.

OR

User shut down of system.

Board powers back on.

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago on my MVF. After shutting system down from Windows, the system would immediately power on again. It did this consistently, evertyime. I Googled the issue a bit and found it could be related to software wake timers. In my case I rememered that I recently installed Aquasuite 13 software from Aqua Computer, which does hardware monitoring and control of watercooling gear. I uninstalled the software and problem went away.

So don't assume it's a hardware issue, it can also be caused by software.

Check your PSU once. Make sure you grounding is proper. Try the board in a different system once or, use a spare PSU, if you have any. Clear CMOS, go to bios press f5 and, then f10 and, run it. Can you please list all your components?

Thanks,
KP

I had a similar situation happen to me for a number of days. In the end I had to re-flash my bios as it had become corrupted.

Please do use a fat Formatted USB stick to flash the bios via Ezflash2 in tools section of the bios. Or motherboard dependant the BIOS flashback method also with a USB drive

I had the same issue recently after flashing to BIOS v1802 with updated Intel RAID OROM 12.7.0.1936 and Intel RST 12.7.0.1022 driver.

In my case, the issue was resolved after flashing back to the original BIOS v1802 (UBF method) as well as uninstalling the Intel RST 12.7.0.1022 driver and then, reinstalling the official Intel RST 12.5.0.1066 driver.

Thank you and welcome HellRider that is indeed what I had to do too.

Yeah, I think there's a bug on either the RST driver or the OROM which causes the system not to shutdown.
Kinda like a reboot instead of a shutdown.

In my case turning on wake on lan fixed the reboot looping after trying to shut down. "power on by PCIE" in APM settings in BIOS.

This makes 0 sense considering the fact WOL often causes issues with reboot loops on shutdowns.

Sorry for necroing this thread, but had to share.
