Asus Maximus Formula V idle temps

Hey all,

Need a little advice on this board as I only just got it . Ok I have assembled my system and been into bios and my god I never seen so many settings in my life! , on my old board from a different manufacturer to get my cpu to run at 4.8ghz I just set my voltage to 1.335 and the cpu ratio to 48 and load line calibration to turbo , set my xmp profile for ram and all was done , I would load a few benchmarks and my highest temp was 68c and my idle temps were 21 -23c , now I am on this new board my idle temps are 29-36c and full load temps are 73c , does this board take more power ? is there any thing in bios I can disable or adjust to lower my idle temps and my load temps back to how they was , i have disabled the igpu as some say that it draws power , thanks for any input or suggestions on my situation 😄

Might be a good idea if you list all your hardware. Each motherboard and each bios version will have different vcore and other settings that will impact on the load voltages.

With the Maximus board all you really need to change is XMP, multi, LLC to medium and vcore (there you can use offset as an option)

The rest just leave on auto.

The one thing I would say up front is that such a bit increase in idle temps screams to possible things. Your CPU cooler mount is not as good as before, or your ambient temps are higher. The next whisper is that something else has changed in your environment (case) that is having an effect on the air flow patterns of the case.

I was told that the gigabyte boards run cooler ? ambient temps are the same mate , I pasted the IHS twice and temps still the same , I will remove the IHS and repaste the Die and see if that fixes things , fingers crossed it does!

Yeah that could be the case, I have had very good times with Gigabyte boards, I still have three P67 UD7 boards on my shelf. Loved them big time.

I am gonna be doing a custom loop before Xmas so with a bit of luck the temps will be decent , I need to choose a new case because I need to have 6 x 120mm rad space , I was thinking corsair 540 case ? I am limited on size or I would of got the corsair 900d but it's massive !!

The 540 is sweet, go have a look for Ganji thread on his build with that case.

I will take a look at that mate , ideally I would of liked to of done a loop in my cm 690 ii but I would have to run external rad 😞
