Ive been having an issue with this board where it wont boot or post. Its gets stuck on error 15 ive also noticed that the cpu led is on. If i keep hitting the reset button it will eventually boot but once i restart it will do the same thing. Ive tested the ram and the hard drives but ive had no luck. Any ideas? My specs are asus maximus 7 formula, i7 4790k, 16 gb corsair , 2 gtx 760 in sli, evga 1000 watt psu, samsung evo 840 250 gb ssd. And a samsung 1tb hhd.

I came from an evga board too, the 790i ultra sli socket 775 to the maximus v extreme I have now.

You know it's really hard to say what the problem is, I'd probably run it outside the case for a little while and restart it a bunch of times to see if the error comes back. if it doesn't come back I wonder if you might have had a ground problem or a power cable was not fully connected or there is maybe a faulty cable somewhere.

i think i found the culprit...i have a nzxt case with the built in fan controller. i was thinking it might be a grounding issue due to the fact that the board was working fine out of the case. i was looking around the back to see if there was maybe a lose wire. the fan controller is bare and it looked like the solder joins were touching the case. i unbolted it and i booted it up a couple of times and it seems to be working fine lol...stupid nxzt had me doubting asus

Ah haaa

That very well could have been the problem, bare wires touching the case is never a good thing.

I hope this is what was causing your problem and you have an error free board from now on.

I suppose a little more testing and time will tell. Now that you're fairly sure you found the problem, install everything in your case and see how it goes.

Please give an update at any time as I am interested to know how it's working for you. 🙂

Ok

This also crossed my mind that it could be your pcie power cables. I'm not sure how many come with the evga supernova 1000w without looking but try swapping them with the other ones in the box.

Thank you

Now that makes me wonder if there is a faulty cable somewhere, please try with the cables that came with your psu.
