Ive been having an issue with this board where it wont boot or post. Its gets stuck on error 15 ive also noticed that the cpu led is on. If i keep hitting the reset button it will eventually boot but once i restart it will do the same thing. Ive tested the ram and the hard drives but ive had no luck. Any ideas? My specs are asus maximus 7 formula, i7 4790k, 16 gb corsair , 2 gtx 760 in sli, evga 1000 watt psu, samsung evo 840 250 gb ssd. And a samsung 1tb hhd.

Hello stemz05

Code 15 = Pre Memory System Agent Initialization has started.

That sounds to me like a CPU or RAM problem.

Please list the specifications of your RAM.

The ram is rated at 2400 but its running at stock speeds....the ram that im using is supposed to be supported as well it the model listed in the manual

Thank You

A couple things you can try

1) Try booting with one stick of ram.
2) press the mem ok button.
3) Increase the cpu system agent voltage to 1.15v - 1.25v.
4) Update the bios.

Do any of these suggestions help?

I cant really mess with the voltage due to the fact that it wont post so i cant get into the bios. Ill try different ram and ill go one at a time to see if that helps any. Ive tried the mem ok button and it says that ram is ok thats y im a little confused lol. And bios is up to date. Its funny cuz it was working fine then i tore it apart to clean it and it started acting up. I hope i didnt break anything -_-

Thank you

Sometimes overtightening your cpu cooler can give odd codes, you could try loosening it a touch. If you have access to another RAM kit give that a try too, that way we can rule out the RAM.

I completly forgot that asus supported that function. Ive been trying to get into the bios. Im thinking maybe i damaged or currupted the bio. I had just done maintinace on my water cooling loop and i didnt have a jumper so i just turned the pc on and then turned it of with the power button on the psu. Could thats cause any problems?

No, that shouldn't cause the problem you are having.

Code 15 is not a very common code, it could be your cpu too but the fact it boots sometimes tells me the cpu is ok.

Focus on updating the bios and let us know if that gets you going.
