Asus Hero VI sound problem

Furphy

Hi,

I just bought a sound system for my office today and connected it via S/PDIF to the asus HeroVI board.

Everytime i MUTE/UNMUTE the sound eigher with keyboard, HD Sound manager, or in-program function there's a rather loud CLICK which can be heard from the speakers - sounds rather 'unhealthy'.

1) It's ONLY using S/PDIF out
2) It's only with the Asus board - mute works with other (optical connected) sources quite fine.
(Just lifted another source to the office to prove that)
3) Pause ON/OFF ... no problem.
4) Bit rates do only affect the pitch (and maybe the quality) of the "CLIcktztz"

Any suggestions?

Check that there is not a short between the case and the motherboard, especially the wires the can sometimes get small nicks in them where they rub against the chassis.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Which wires??...
I'm using the S/PDIF right at the back of the MoBo which is directly solded to it.
I only have the problem using S/PDIF out - no problem with front panel or rear audio.

May you pls. add S/PDIF to the headline 🙂 ... seems i can't do it.
