System BIOS
The website for your PC manaufacturer should have the latest System BIOS for your PC. Sometimes the manufacturer will combine the System BIOS and Intel ME firmware updates into one download package. In general, updating to the latest version of the BIOS is recommended. In most cases you can revert back to a previous version of your System BIOS if the new version is causing problems for you.
Intel ME Firmware
The ME firmware package will have a version number that identifies the Intel AMT family. For example, Intel AMT 6. All the upgrades for your PC must be in the same family becuase the firmware is specifically designed for your PC's hardware. Unlike the System BIOS, you can't revert back to a previous version of the firmware once you upgrade the firmware. In most cases you should update to the latest version of the firmware that is available from your manufacturer. The release notes for each release will describe the bug fixes for each release and will help you decide if you need to update.
To upgrade the firmware, follow the instructions provided by the PC manufacturer. Some versions of the MEBx have a FW Update Settings option that may prevent local updates in the field if PC was previously configured with this option.
