ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z | No Audio & Not Recognized in Devices

I am having some Audio issues with my motherboard - there isn't any!
System Info;

OS: Windows OS 8.1 64bit
Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z
CPU: AMD FX 8350 Eight-Core Processor
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti

Tests so far;

  • Installed the Realtek Audio Driver: Version 6.0.1.7023

  • Uninstalled and Re-installed Drivers: Version 6.0.1.7023

  • The Device does not show in the Device Manager with and without the Drivers.

  • Checked the Motherboard cabling.

  • Made sure that SB Azalia HD was Enabled

  • Disabled SB Azalia HD (Just because I could)

I have tried everything I can think of but the SupremeFX III Chip doesn't seem to be being picked up or recognized as a Device.

I would appreciate any help!

OK just wanted to make sure 🙂

I'm agreeing that at this point I would RMA the board as again I didn't have to install any drivers for the Audio. My two cents: make sure to do a clean install of Windows 8.1 to verify that native drivers work before installing update drivers.

Keep us in the loop!

Welcome to the Asus forum.

Seeming the user didn't post back I think it is safe to assume the problem was resolved by one of the following:
1) the clean install of the OS resolved the problem
2) the Audio Chip was defective so it was replaced

Typically this problem can also be the result of the audio being disabled in the BIOS; you didn't indicate if you had checked that in your post. Also seeming I'm going on very minimal information did you install the drivers...is the audio device even showing up in Device Manager...and also what OS are you using?

In the future if you are having problems please open a new "thread" vs. posting on a "old" or "closed" thread.

Thanks!
