Asus Crosshair V Formula no boot, no error

Good day everyone,
it's the first time I wrote here, as it's the first time I have a problem with a ROG product 😉

Following my system specs:
PSU HX Series HX750 Power Supply — 750 Watt 80 PLUS® Gold Certified Modular PSU
M/B Crosshair V Formula/ThunderBolt
CPU AMD FX-8150 Socket AM3+ 8Core 3.6MHZ 125W Box
RAM DDR3 G.Skill RipjawsZ F3-17000CL9Q-8GBZH 2133MHz 8GB (4x2GB) 9-11-10-28-2N 1.65V
GRAPHIC VGA Asus Radeon HD 7970 Core 925MHz Memory GDDR5 3GB

I've just bought all the stuff above, and the first start of the system "failed"... actually it seems to work, but nothing appear on the screen (it said no cable).

Following the checks I've made:
- everithing seems powered (cpu fan on, hdd running, graphic card fans blowing, thunderbolt light on, etc)
- no beeps
- no Q-Led is lighted
- CPU/DDR/NB/SB Led are lighed in a green light

I know for sure that the graphic card works as I've tested it on another PC.
I've tried to remove the graphic card to check if there was some beep, but nothing happened (I didn't make the same type of test removing the CPU, but I'll do it later).

My thought goes to the RAM, as it's not certified for the MB and, thanks to a friend, I'll be able to make a test with a pair of certified RAM.

Meanwhile someone has a clue on what could be happening or maybe if there are other tests I can do to find out the problem?

Thanks everyone in advance 🙂

Hmmm well since you have the 08xx BIOS revision and still have the RipjawsZ and want it to work...maybe you can update to say at least 1102? it's the one i'm using and I would have to say, it is more stable than 1301 and 1402 🙂

Hi Daemon, Myk and Dark,
thanks for your kind and precious support.

I've checked the Bios and the version is 0404 (quite old eh?! 😉 )

I've changed the CPU with a Phenom II 1100T and I was finally able to get the system start.
I've updated the BIOS to the suggested version (1102).

Put the FX8150 back and... the system is up and running now! 🙂

The last thing is that the G.Skill RipjawsZ are seen as 1600 MHz instead of 2133 MHz

Again thanks everyone for your support, you are all great 🙂

To achieve the stated frequency of the ram you will need to over-clock your system. There are a number of very good guides posted in the sticky of the Crosshair section that will help you understand what is needed. If you do get stuck or just feel you need a bit of help please feel free to post.

And I fully agree well done to Myk and Chris for their assistance.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

yep, thanks HiVizMan
already absorbed reading ASUS Crosshair V Formula BIOS Guide - Overclocking 😉

You know I get a great amount of joy from a first boot up no matter how many I have done. It is like you child taking it's first breath.

Being ingnorant and ingnored one post at a time.

No worries, that's what we are here for 🙂 oh and when you ramp up your Memory Timings info, make sure you set your RAM to 1.65V, though Raja's thread says 1.5....your RAM won't be stable enough at 1.5 to work @ 2133

It looks like that, once I've tweaked memory frequency, it automatically run at 1.65V. I've manually set it to 1.65 anyway.
