Now, why would you want to cripple excellent motherboard with Apple garbage? I'm not a hater, and own quite few apple products myself, but I thought OSX can only be installed on Gigabyte boards with custom flashed UEFI bios, correct me if I'm wrong, (most likely) but that's the path to take, and I believe AMD and Apple won't play along nicely.
My ROG: MOBO: ASUS Crosshair V Formula | CPU: AMD 1100T Black Edition (O/C 4.125 GHz) | RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 1600 4x4 GB (PC12800 842 MHz) | PSU: Rosewill 1000W 80+ Bronse
GPU: 2xEVGA GTX 560Ti 2GB VRAM | Primary HDD: Samsung 470S 128 GB SSD | Secondary HDD's: 3x WD Caviar Green 2TB Non Raid | ODD: Samsung BD-R/DVD-RW
Cooling: CPU: Corsair H5O with Push Pull Scythe Slipstream fans | Rest: GELID Ultra quiet closed loop fans. | Control: Zalman ZM-MFC2

Does VMware allow you to emulate hardware? If so I'd say that would likely be the only way. OSX is extremely proprietary, they don't even sell it as a stand alone. So it's going to want specific hardware.
Crosshair V Formula 990FX 0506 Bios - Phenom II X6 1100T - Gskill Sniper 1600MHz (4x4GB) - Saphire Radeon 6770 - OCZ Agility 3 60GB - WD Black 1TB - Cooler Master V6GT - Antec Dark Fleet 85 - Antec CP-850 - Windows 7 Ultimate 64

Found this:

http://www.osxlatitude.com/mac-os-x-lion-on-amd-a-progress-update/

But it doesn't explicitly explain if Asus Crosshair Formula V with AMD FX-4170 CPU would work 😕

Any one got it to work for them? Please reply with steps. Thank you!

I for one am hopeful now, I miss my Cross Platform Developer Tools an Apple always did have a better looking UI...

I've tried numerous times to install Hackintosh on AMD systems and the result is poor at best.

OSX likes Intel, getting an AMD hackintosh running is pretty time consuming and even then the best I got was an ancient build running with no drivers working at all so no net and no GPU

Thanks for posting about your troubles. I feel like it *IS* possible (based off the video below):

But that was on the Crosshair IV and AMD Phenom. It's not a huge thing but with work, those who are good with both Windows and Mac OS tend to move up quicker.

Anyone please bump this thread if you found a good (and easy) way to install Mac OS X Lion OR Snow Leopard on an Asus Crosshair V with AMD FX-4170. Thanks!

Im thinking about having a crack at this i will upload details as i go, I know there is are some guides of use
