Asus Crossblade Ranger & Athlon x4 860k

I'm wanting to swap my current CPU and Motherboard (sig rig) out with this setup and since I have an ROG build (pictured below) the crossblade is the only real AMD option in FM2+ to keep the ROG look of my case

Has or is anyone using this setup?

Would another APU be a better choice over the 860k?

Would really like to hear your thoughts on it..

I'm just curious why you would want to change out a Maximus VII Hero with a Crossblade Ranger.

The 860K is the 7850K without the integrated GPU. The 870K and 880K should be available soon.

The A10 APU Kaveri has 4 processor cores and 8 GPU cores and it's GPU possesses extraordinary talents beyond great gaming performance. ... The key to it all is Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA). HSA seamlessly combines the specialized capabilities of the CPU, GPU and various other processing elements onto a single chip – the APU. This allows seamless communications between the cpu/gpu responsibilities. By far a better unit.

Nice looking, clean build ... I like it !! -

I seen a few 88 builds w/apu's..playing battlefield at over 100fps..under $800.00

nice setup. What the CPU block is inside with ROG logo?

Hi,

Your setup looks really good - I've just got myself a Crossblade Ranger which I hope will be really good for a lower end machine. It's probably a while since you created this post but I saw your signature and you've got an i7 4790k - If you want a Crossblade Ranger machine with 860k or an A10 7870K why don't you build a second machine.

The 4790k is way more powerful than x860k - I've got some Intel chips and now I've got an 880K on the way as well as an A10 7870K for 2 x Crossblade Ranger as it has 2 PCI slots for some old hardware sound cards providing the chipset doesn't object to the hardware.

Anyhow a 2nd machine could be handy.

If I needed really good CPU power I wouldn't use 880k although it does pack a punch at half the power of a 4790k so is very useable. It's good to be here and I hope you keep Crossblade Ranger for future use.
