Hi I have had my ssd plugged into the asmedia port on my RIVE and I have now learnt that its probably not the best choice.
I have tred to change it to the sata 6gbs port and now Im getting the BSOD error 0x0000007B.
Im pretty sure this would have happened to someone before.

I have tried this http://www.dowdandassociates.com/blog/content/howto-repair-windows-7-install-after-replacing-motherb... its worked for me in the past. I tried it with the sata drivers from asus support should I maybe try with the intel chipset drivers?

this trick serves to reset the driver the OS looks for when changinf ide to AHCI or RAID...maybe it would work for the change here too?

No dice same error. I actually had already changed the msachi start value earlier and I was sure it would work but it didn't. I have another computer that I mite set it up on and it will probably reset the sata drivers and that will let me take it back to the Rive and start a fresh. But it's a big risk because I mite end up not being able to boot up at all. Also I won't be able to try this till later next week so I'm open to any other ideas. And thanks again Arne saknussemm for trying

Shoot...no dice huh? Have you tried moving the drive back to AS media and un-installing ASmedia drivers and using Microsoft driver ....and then maybe try again on Intel ports? that kind of thing...

Hmm I tried something similar but I may have gone to far with it what I did was uninstall the driver and chose to also delete files for the driver as well and that caused a blue screen even while plugged into the asmedia port. I had to go into advanced boot settings and chose last good configuration to get it boot again.il try to uninstall them without deleting them and see how that goes.

You would think that some one would have had to run into this exact same problem at some stage and fixed it. It is probably something simple in the end At least that's what I'm hoping

nope tried that one again no luck I also got a blue screen while in the asmedia port again after I uninstalled them. The exact same one as when I plugged into the intel sata. something isent right.
Do you think you could have a look here (http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Rampage+IV+Extreme%2fBATTLEFIELD+3&p=1&s=42) And point out the exact drivers I should be using for the intel sata?
Also what part do you think the intel chipset drivers would play in this? Im thinking nothing but I have heard of needing to uninstall them aswell.

You shouldn't need to load any drivers as far as I know .....Microsoft default AHCI drivers should load automatically.

If I were you I would stay on AS media.... backup what you want to save and clean install on the SSD on the Intel ports...probably less time...
