I have Comcast internet and I get Norton Security Suite free as long I use there services, never had a virus or any problems out it. I used AVG free for a long time and it does work good.

+1 for Microsoft Security Essentials. It automatically updates with new definitions several times a day and you never have to register it like some others. Also spend $25 for Malwarebytes Pro. It runs it's anti-malware shield in the background and it automatically blocks webpage access to potentially malicious sites. I use both and they compliment each other nicely.
