AMD partner wanted for HiVizman's Challenge

Fellow AMDers, I am looking for a partner with an AMD platform, to participate to new HiVizman's challenge. Details here: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?37895-2013-Autumn-Folly . You don't need to be a Pro overclocker, I am not too. These challenges are well placed for people to compete and have fun, while we know our systems and capabilities better. So, in this challenge two guys, one with Intel and one with AMD, join as a team and benching. The team results combined (don't ask me how, only Vizman knows) and there is a winning team. The sure thing is, we don't have any loosers. Only fun. So, who wants to join me and give it a try? Salary sucks, Bonus the same, no company car and cellphone. Satisfaction guaranteed 😄

The point of these challenges is to have fun.

What I do in each of the challenges I run is share some of the pro tips on overclockging and benching that I have picked up over the years. The end result is that the guys make friends, have a good giggle and at the end of things find that they have learnt a whole heap about their systems.

So roll up roll up any and all who are keen for a bit of fun and make some new ROG mates.

Niko, I hope you don't mind, don't want to steal your thread.. But I am also looking for an AMD partner for the challenge mentioned above! So Guys with an AMD rigg, who would like to embark on the journey to enhancing your overclocking skills, knowledge and fun in general. You will be amazed about the gains you will me just by joining us in this new challenge, tips, hints tweaks, there is so much to learn. Sure it will take some time, each bench has its own "manual", but that is the fun off benching. It doesn't matter if you are a new to overclocking, it's the enthousiasme and the willingness to learn that counts. Who is interested? Just let me /us know

What I am going to do is suggest a drafting system. If we get some AMD guys who want to play then we list them up and take it from there. I will start to email and pm guys with AMD rigs today.

nikosa I think we have been paired together. Just to keep you informed, I'm expecting my new motherboard in tomorrow. Hopefully this weekend I can be up and running and ready to submit benchies. See my specs below.

So, what are your system specs?

Hi csimon, glad to meet you, in such a way :). Like sailing to the unknown, if you think that Vizman has surprises and benches not yet announced. So my system runs on air with a Noctua NH-D14, Mainboard is an ASUS Maximus V Formula with a delidded 3770k. For every day use I don't bother to OC, because the kids use it too (it's all weather rig, for everyone in home). For benching goes up to 5.1-5.2Ghz. Memory is G.Skill 2600 cl10 2x4Gb and system disk is a Sandisk Extreme 240Gb. I am also using a Samsung 840 Pro 128 Gb for benching with images of stripped win7 and win 8. There is also a 74 Raptor for stripped WinXp. GPU until a few months ago was an ASUS GTX 570DCUII, but now I have a Palit GTX780 Super Jet Stream. PSU is a Zalman 750. If financials go well (I doubt :)), I want to make a custom water loop for both CPU and GPU.

Your system is very admirable and matches your sig closely (nice video card as well btw). I believe that Ivy bridge is allowed to overclock to 4700 for the competition. I'm assuming that's what the 3770k is. If not please correct me if I'm wrong since I am not very familiar with Intel CPU's.

As for me I do plan to OC my FX to 4600 for this event. I have a newly installed alphacool nexus monsta 480 what I just installed with 8 NB-eloop B12-P PWM fans so I just be able to keep this thing cool throughout the rest of the month.

Congrats for your new system. You have an excellent rad there. The monsta series is 80mm width, (I think) and in 480 size, you really have huge cooling capacity. Yes 3770k (IVY bridge), is capped to 4.7Ghz for the challenge. That's why I am curious, what Vizman has in his mind. Because 6 cores SB E series has advantage over 4 cores IVY at the same clock. Imagine how much more advantage has, if SB Es are also capped to 4.9Ghz. Anyway that's why we are here, to have fun with things we like and do our best :). I have also, to undust my knowledge about AMD CPUs, since it's about 6 years from my last AMD processor and I am sure there is a different approach to overclock them. I have lots to learn about that. Now we are in need of a team name. I 'll think of something, do the same and we decide tomorrow.
