Alternative PCIE Lane Due To Lane 1 Blocking PCIEX1_1 (Maximus IV Extreme-z)

Hi,

I need to use the PCIEX1_1 lane in my Maximus IV Extreme-Z motherboard for a video capture card but it is blocked off if I put my GPU card in the PCIE_X16/8_1 lane. Will I suffer any loss of GPU speed if I put the GPU card in the PCIE_X16_2 lane or should I try to keep the GPU card in the PCIE_X16/8_1 lane and relocate the video capture card to another lane?

Thx

No idea how this post slipped through the net mate, Could you please tell me what capture card you wish to use. I have both the Blackmagic and the Intensity pro so maybe I can help you out here.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Check the manual - it should tell you whether the second lane is only 8x or whether it supports a full 16x. Even if it is 8x it shouldn't loose you too many FPS - I'd argue nothing noticeable in gaming, only if you're a benchmarker and care for the 3DMark numbers you'll care.
