Ai Suite III & FanXPert

I have a Maximus VI Hero BIOS 0711, I disabled Q-Fan and all fans are running as they should. After installing AI Suite III, newest version from site, and running the auto calibrator it completely disables my CPU_OPT fan and runs it at 0 RPM. The software seems good for monitoring Temps and speeds but this cannot be normal. Any idea why this is happening?

Do you have the same behaviour if Q-fan is enabled?
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Are you running the same model of fan in both CPU_FAN and OPT_FAN headers?

The OPT_FAN is just a mirror of the CPU_FAN header, if the fan is different or even if the fan is the same but from factory it cant drop as low as the other fan, and you calibrate it with the other fan, then it might be going below what the fan can handle. So my suggestion is to swap fan connectors of both fans and re run the calibration.

Thank you for the replies.

CPU_Fan is connected to a Corsair H80i, CPU_OPT is connected to a Noctua NF-F12

CPU Fan is running around 2300 under BIOS full load, Noctua Max is 1500 I believe.

The Other Noctua NF-F12s are running at about 1k in Bios.

What do you mean swap fan connectors? Connect them to different headers?

This is probably the reason, as FanXpert calibrated on the pump not on the fans (the CPU_OPT is just a mirror), so fanxpert2 is just applying the same setting from the pump to the fan. Im not familiar with the specs nor if this all in one watercooling setups can take PWM fan control or just undervolting.

I thought you were running 2 fans from the CPU_FAN and OPT_FAN headers, not a pump and fan, so my suggestion was to swap the FANs 4pin PWM connector from CPU_FAN to OPT_FAN and re calibrate, but since they are different might or not be desired, i have never used a corsair prebuilt watercooling, the risk that i see in swapping the headers is that it will calibrate on the noctua nf-f12 fans pwm design, and not sure if this range will work well for the Corsair pump.

To avoid this what i would do is run either the pump or the fans in Chasis fan motherboard header and control them seprated, FanXpert2 is very good in terms to overwrite the bios % restrictions, but in here the only issue is that the fans will be controlled as pure voltage regulation and not PWM, meaning that the fan could go lower in some cases via PWM signal or can behave different. But this is what i would do since its two different components that you are trying to control with a single CPU fan header (the CPU_OPT is a mirror of CPU-FAN).

Probably some one else that has more experience running prebuilt watercooling can post their suggestiona with fanxpert2.

Hey Abula, I really appreciate the help.

The H80i radiator fan runs through the pump and out to the CPU header, there is a dummy header that is then supposed to run to CPU_OPT as filler.

Im full up on fans and do not have any empty headers, thus I need to run one of my ceiling out takes through CPU_OPT, which works fine but confuses AiSuite III.

Really wish I waited for the Formula, then Id have more fan headers than I needed.

Im assuming if I went with a hardware fan controller like the NZXT Sentry Id have the same issue?
