AI Suite II uninstall cleaner/Windows 8 problems

Greetings all and welcome to yet another in a series of my N00b posts.

My first error was installing the AI Suite II the second was using it's CPU-level up section, after having uninstalled it via the ASUS wizard I'm still left with an in Windows 8 only OC of 4.600hz, I have reset my BIOS with F5 and F10 save but ROG CPU-Z is still sowing the initial CPU-level up of 4.600hz is still in affect.

I have tried to use the following AI Suite II uninstall cleaner, but I'm met with the following messages in Windows 8 when trying ti install it:
http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?28319-AI-Suite-II-uninstall-cleaner&country=&status=
Compressed (zipped) Folders Error
Windows can't open this folder.
The compressed (zipped) Folder C:\Users\..... Downloads\Cleaner.zip is invalid

(Extract compressed (zipped) Folders)

Cannot complete the compressed (zipped) folders extraction wizard
The compressed zip folder is empty
Before you can extract files, you must copy files to this compressed folder

To close wizard click finish

Downloading from the bellow link Cleaner.7z gets you:
How do you want to open this type of file?

My only recourse at the moment is to re-install Windows 8.

Thank you all for your indulgence.

Did you enter your BIOS and set the CPU Level Up to Disabled like I suggested in your other thread? As for the AI Suite Uninstaller, you can find it in my signature. Many users have downloaded and executed the cleaner without problems.

Yes everything in the BIOS is at default settings and the CPU Level up is showing as disabled in BIOS.

I'll keep trying but I keep getting the same error messages, I wouldn't count out an error on my part:confused:

It wouldn't be the end of the world just to re install Windows, it's just that that the Steam backup system is less than perfect and most games will need to be re-downloaded which will take weeks/months with my connection of less than 600 kb download speed:(

With your system and PSU turned off and the power cable disconnected from the wall, remove the CMOS battery for 5 minutes. Then put it back into place. Enter your BIOS and load the optimized settings and change the date and time back to the correct values. Save and restart. Run P95 with CPU-Z opened. Your overclock problem should be solved now. 😉

As for the AI Suite uninstall, remember you have to remove it normally like you would in Windows. Then reboot into safe mode to run the cleaner to remove the leftover services that might have escaped the normal uninstaller. 😉

Muchas gracias Chino!!!!:):):)

If I'd had a 100 years I shouldn't have guessed that, failing that I'll remove the CMOS battery as recommended above

I bow before your Geeky wisdom;)

May I ask which Power scheme you use in Windows ? Cause if you use "performance" it might be what causes your 4.600 OC in windows despite you changing BIOS to default (i'm just found out this myself earlier today...:( )

You need this app 7-Zip. Just pick you os and cpu you are using. It basically works like winziz and winrar does. Gives you a right click menu after installing it also.

Make sure you right click the cleaner.exe and choose run as administrator. This will make it work properly.

Hello MultiDoc and KILLER_K forgive the late reply, I've been too preoccupied to implement any solutions at this time.

My settings read as follows control panel >system security>power options= balanced (recommended).

I'm too swamped with work at this time but will try and implement as soon as I'm able.

Thanks for your input & time all.

Hopping on this thread hoping to get related help: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and impossible to fully remove AI Suite II installation. I installed some of the AI Suite features to review/experiment, but I wanted to remove them all.

Used proper Windows Uninstall Program procedure, which seemed to complete, but left 4 active running ASUS services in place, and a number of Asus folders with files under c:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS. I found the Cleaner utility, as first uploaded by Raja. Followed instructions to boot into Safe mode, and run the cleaner. It produced an error, and didn't remove anything. Tried again and it didn't respond at all.
Booted back into normal Windows, decided perhaps to redo it all and also found this thread.

Steps Taken:
- Reinstalled AI Suite, this time choosing to install ALL options.
- Rebooted as per installation requirement.
- UNINSTALLED the whole suite. Rebooted.
> Again it left four ASUS services running, and set to automatic.
- I decided to set all ASUS services to *disabled* under Services.msc
- Booted to Safe mode again, ran the Cleaner utility as Administrator
- First message said Service successfully removed.
- Then error message: Can't open AsIO.sys !! ( 2 )
- Hit OK button (only option) and got second (appcrash) error: atkexComSvc.exe has stopped working.
- The original Cleaner utility UI returned, but was unresponsive to further attempts to "clean"
- Rebooted to normal Windows

STATUS:
This last attempt removed 3 of the 4 ASUS services but one remains: ASUS Com Service (file location C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\AXSP\1.00.19\atkexComSvc.exe )
All subfolders and files under C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS have been removed, (including the file referenced in the still 'enabled' Service noted above.)

How can I ACTUALLY clean the remnants of AI Suite installation. Frankly, I'm shocked and dismayed that ASUS produced and released software that cannot actually be properly uninstalled. Having to potentially resort to registry cleaners or manual registry editing is unacceptable to me.

Any additional guidance available? THANKS.

Just in case anyone else is having issues with this last part: The trick is to run the CCleaner registry cleaner while still in Windows safe mode right after you run the AI Suite cleaner and it should find the atkexComSvc registry and delete it. Other than that, follow what Howie did.
