Did you mean:

After upgrading to Maximus VI Hero, my Task Manager says I am at 0.80 GHz.

As my title says, whenever I'm running a CPU intensive game or application, it'll only go up to 0.80 GHz.

I believe that my CPU does go above 0.80 GHz since I can play modern games without a hitch, but I still find it odd how my task manager thinks that I'm only at that speed.

Here is a picture of what I'm talking about. I'm playing a game called Pool Nation which isn't very graphically demanding, but you can still see how it ramps up so quickly.

If you need anymore information about my computer, let me know and I will give you the necessary information!

Thanks to anybody who helps out.

Yup, my task manager is still saying I'm at 0.80 GHz.

Try this, Leave the task manager page up and run prime95 or a cpu intensive program. Does it still stay at .80 GHz.?

So, I did a few tests.

I ran an AIDA64 benchmark and got it to 100% usage. I noticed that the my cpu cooler fan spun much faster, so now I know for sure that my Task Manager is giving me false information.

I ran the test game that I was running before using the built-in stability tester in AIDA64 and it said I was only using 15% CPU instead of the 100% my windows was telling me.

Looks like I'm in the clear for now, but I still find it weird how my windows is giving me false information. Might just be a windows 8 bug I guess!

I'm not sure if it is a bug or what but yeah something is not right about that. I think I would pay attention to cpu-z. You could try disabling the C states and disable speedstep in the bios to see if there are any changes in the task manager.

Thanks for all the help Nate152.

Looks like the issue isn't with the MOBO so I'll go ask around in the windows forum!

It's not hardware related, so that's good. Have you installed the chipset drivers from the ASUS support site?

I can confirm that windows 8 task manager is definitely not reporting the correct clocks. When i run just about any benchmarks it will display 0.80. CPUZ and AISIII will display the clocks jumping from .8 to 4.5. I wouldn't concern yourself with it. Nothing wrong with you're system, the fault is with the task manager itself.

this just happened to me too after I updated the bios to the latest released maximus VI hero.
