a few questions about the Rampage IV Black Edition Motherboard. . . .

hi all, just got my new build up and running but have some questions that i cant find in the manual 😞

here are my specs...

System: Asus Rampage IV Black Edition MOBO with intel 4930k ivy bridge-E
ram: gskill DDR3 1600 8GB (4x2gb) XMP Enabled in BIOS
(ya i know i plan on uping the ram soon these sticks are from my old build)
video: asus nvidia gforce GTX580 direct cuII (ya plan on upping this card also)
HDD's: 4x350gb hdd, 1tb external, 1SSD samsung evo 250gb
case: corsair 900D
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H100i
windows 8.1 installed on 250gb ssd

ok now to the questions lol

1. why am i getting such long load times into windows? on my old system asus striker II nse with Intel Q8400 quad bootup was almost instant with windows 8.1 on the ssd drive? now its taking at least 60 to 80 sec to get to desktop from the time i hit the power button i even have intel rapid xfer enabled, any ideas?

2. my memok led stays a solid yellow i hit the memok button and it checks out boots up and all is that normal is what im asking cant find anything in the book on it just tells u what its for

3. on the debugcode after bootup it says "AA" on it, the book says that code means " System has transitioned into ACPI mode Interrupt controller is in APIC mode" ?? never heard of APIC mode is that a typo? confused! 😞 ACPI is enabled in bios

4. dunno if this is the thread to ask this question in but i feel this is a feature of the RIVBE so ill ask it here 🙂
iDirect ROG Connect will not connect iv tried my iPad4, iphone 5 and even my old android samsung galS2 none of them work tried blutooth, wifi iv googled this question to death with no luck this feature was one of the selling points for me to buy this mobo kinda upset i cant get it working ,is this a win8.1 issue? please help!! 😞

Hi,

1. Depends what you have plugged into the board. Some devices can delay BOOT time. You may want to disable any unused controllers in UEFI to help.

2. I will have to see what color the one on my board stays. If the board POSTs fine, nothing to worry about. MemOK! just uses safe settings to get the board to POST if the DRAM config is unstable.

3. This is normal for these boards. Nothing to worry about.

4. AFAIK there is no ROG connect feature for phone via Bluetooth any more. ROG connect uses the USB port to connect to a laptop and use certain features.

ill check in the bios whats enabled i havent messed with the settings to much yet waiting for a day off of work to dive into it more, its pretty much on default have just changed a few settings is all

Are you pressing the Mem OK button to get the board to POST?

If not the LED you speak of is likely one of the PCIe LEDs to show you have a device in one of the slots - they are always yellow when on. The PCIe power toggle switches are right next to it. I suspect that is the LED you are seeing.

that must be what im looking at then ya it is right next to the pci-e lane switches
it boots into windows fine (just slower then expected) havent had crash one with this setup even when stress test aida64

oh one other thing was looking over your OC guide but did not see in your guide if turbo mode should be switched off when OC'ing? or does it matter?

Leave Turbo enabled as that allows access to higher core ratios. No need to change anything.

Hello, Sorry for using this tread.

I need someone from Asus to anwser this question,

System spec
4930K 4.6GHz 1.21v
R4BE Bios: 0507
TridentX 2400Mhz 10-12-12-31 1.65V
2x GTX 680 Classified (Sli)
EVGA Supernova 1300 G2


Problem description:
Well it seems to the GPU performance is Normal with 1 GPU.
But im running sli so here it is,

This is Compared to my Old motherboard (MSI BigBang Xpower 2) were all the hardware works perfectly
each GPU works Perfectly Single and SLI
SLI bridge works perfecly
power cables is connected all over.


Now on the new Rampage IV black edition
GPU Usage is lower
FPS is lower
overall performance lower


Tried a lot of diffrent Nvidia Drivers, but no luck

im no expert but i would check bios settings and also make sure u have your cards installed in the right pcie slots
just looked at mine lastnight and somehow i stuck mine in a 8x slot by mistake that i need to change to a 16x slot
would also check the dip switches for the pcie lanes and make sure the pcie lanes are switched on that your vid cards are using

just doesnt sound like a driver based prob to me, sounds more like hardwae settings...........hope that helps some 🙂

Well. Both cards works perfectly with my old Motherboard, And both card is in the correct slot and x16 🙂

and checked bios settings konstantly over the last two days 😞
