8 lane, 8 port pci express switch

In device manager I have "Other Devices" a "Base System Device" that is listed as "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" ID is "PCI\VEN_10B5&DEV_8609&SUBSYS_860910B5&REV_BA"

Hardware ID tells me it's a PLX tech. "8 lane 8 port PCI express switch"

Google shows very few posts about this, most are ASUS related. Not sure if it's related to my asus R9 280X or possible the sata ports, raid or my USB 3.0 RocketU 1142a card.

Anyone have experience with this? Point me to a driver?

Thanks.

I found the issue. It is from the highpoint usb card and the PLX bridge chip. There is a fix and download on the Highpoint sight, just search under support for "base system device"

Great job! I was thinking the problem was a RAID issue as the DEV ID code you posted was dealing with RocketRAID.

Thanks for letting us know what the problem was!

I Googled on and off for several days before I found the Highpoint info. I had assumed that running the 1142A setup it would install ALL the correct drivers. Looking at the dates on the Highpoint site they have been aware of this driver issue for some time. Hopefully with the thread title others that have this problem can find this thread.

It was worth the hassle, I have a Pro57U USB 3 reader attached to the 1142A and it's FAST!

Agreed! All of us can use the higher transfer rates of USB 3.0 when working with removable storage devices while copying fiiles.

Funny how these driver issues can take days to resolve 🙂
