4701 Bios do i choose IRST or RSTe?

THis has got to be the most confusing and frustrating thing to configure/install!

I need help here guys

I am running the latest bios 4701 x64 and i just bought 2 Samsung SSD Pro series 128GB drives.

I want Maximum SPEED. Don't care about redundancy. I want RAID 0

But with this new Bios version i am burdened with a choice. IRST or RSTe?

And if i choose one, does that mean i have to install a particular driver for that particular choice when i am installing Windows for the first time?

Please help?

Go EFI all the way (IRSt) because I believe the latest drivers now support trim in RAID-I think it was Nodens who singled that out in his "modified drivers" thread.

why do you have to be so unclear? is it RSTe or IRST that i choose according to your post!?

which are you referring to when you say (RSt)???????????????????
why do you have to be so unclear? is it RSTe or IRST that i choose according to your post!? cause those are the exact choices you have in the Bios!

I meant IRST-corrected my post-sorry about that. 🙂 Install in EFI mode instead of legacy here (Page No. changes so just look for this post/guide 1 or 2 pages back if the link doesn't show it): http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?30520-RAMPAGE-Windows-8-7-UEFI-Installation-Guide/page24

RIVE Has TRIM Support with SSDs in RAID 0!
I though i would let everyone know i installed asus's new bios today 4503 for the RIVE and everything went good
when windows booted up i ran "winsat formal" in the command prompt(admin) and let that run;
when i checked if trim was enabled it was. I optimized my ssds in raid0 they now have TRIM support!!!
This is on windows 8.1

If running Windows 8.1 the boot drivers you need are all already included-no additional download necessary.

With the latest 4701 bios (R4E), UEFI and ROM RST are up to date (12.7.0.1936), right?

Nodens
Yes. It also includes 8.1.51.1471 ME firmware.

Lastly, as I understand it reading posts from people running SSD, RSTe carry's more overhead-server type reliability over pure perfomance as the main consideration. IRSt is supposedly faster as a result, but, I don't run SSD and have not personally run any benchmarks.

Both are Intel Rapid Storage Technology.

I use IRST drivers for my RAID systems.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Hello jblanc03.

I also purchased 2 840pro for RAID0.

I'm using IRST for my raid (I have 2 arrays, 2xSSD and 4xHDD)
Saying abut HDD array is quite easy, but with SSD you need IOPS. I'm not ready to give an answer about which rom would be faster, but IRST is more popular at least.

It would be nice if Nodens would clarify the subject.

BTW HiViz, they made a very nice RAID ROM switch in previous BIOS version, why is it gone?

I would like to do exactly what you did!!!

except i want (2XSSD and 4XSSD) I want the first array for my OS and the second for my data

is this possible?

Just like I did.
I use SSD array for OS, drivers and some soft like browser, skype etc, and some most often used games.
HDD array is data storage.

PS intel website seems to experience some issues,
try this one
