32GB (2x 16GB DDR3) in Maximus VI Impact? Theoretically possible?

Hello,
I did post a similar question in 2014 but at that time I decided 16GB was enough for me:
https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?55016

It is 2018 now and I decided to pull the trigger and try some 16 GB DDR3 sticks.

My Mini ITX motherboard has 2x DDR3 slots, my CPU is 4790k which supports 32GB of ram. I have the latest BIOS.

I bought the DDR3 sticks in here: https://amazon.com/gp/product/B07D43PM97

Unfortunately when booting with 2 sticks, the motherboard shows error 51 which the instruction outlines as "Memory initialization error. Invalid memory type or incompatible speed".

When booting with: 1x 8GB Kingston and one 1x 16GB Nemix the BIOS correctly shows 24GB of ram. Unfortunately the OS (both Windows and Linux) sees only 8GB.

If this is not possible, what is the reason? Is it the BIOS? Is there any way to make it work?

Hello RushPL

The Maximus VI Impact supports up to 16GB of memory, this is likely the reason you're having issues.

Thank you! I upgraded to Maximus VI Gene. 🙂 Almost everything is good ... having some problems with hot booting though. Any ideas? https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?105566-Black-screen-on-a-hot-reboot-but-everything-fine-on...
