i'm in the process of building my first PC and i noticed the mobo has both a 8pin and a 4pin and i've been reading some on here to
see if they both need to be plugged in to work right and i keep seeing different things like yes they both do or no not unless your
doing crossfire or sli so....my question is do i really need both or will it work off just the 8pin please someone let me know this is all
i'm lacking to be done with it.

Hi LeeroyHighhill
The 4pin socket at the top of your MB is required to assist the CPU in higher OCs, especially with the FX-9590.
The 4pin EZplug is used to assist your GPU. Don't confuse the two.

Its always possible that *somebody* might get the 9590 stable with just the 8-pin connector, but I was never able to do it. Connect both for peace of mind, as recommended above.

The extra 4pin near the memory sockets does absolutely nothing in my rig have tested with and without. Pretty sure it just supplies more power to the cpu/nb. Would come into play when using LN2 and all out overclocks.
