I have a 2500k OC'd to 4.8Ghz on a Gene-Z board. It passes 24 hours of Prime95 and 20 flops of IBT. While playing movies and streaming videos, I will get a BSOD 0F4 after it's been on for 24+ hours. What is causing this?

I had same issue on my last build which carried over due to me swapping hardware before I did a clean install!

Exactly same issue, BSOD while doing light load like music or watching movie!

You need to look in Event Manager!

Issues likes "side by side error" and "PerfNet" and "PerfLib", I read its to do with having disabled performance timers but nothing fixed mines and it was on both OS I boot to (Vista 64 and Win 7 64) so it must have been some schedule or service I disabled!

There was a lot of info on Google for my errors but a dead end for me!

What are performance timers?

The services that I disable on this Intel based system are the same that I disabled on my old AMD based system. So what services HAVE to be enabled on an Intel system?

Performance timers are what Vista/Win7 use to make sure PC is running 100% and give you info if it is not!

You can view some of things it does in the "Resource Monitor"!

I can only go by my issues and those errors I listed above!

I did a clean install and still disabled some services but this time I left Scheduled Tasks well alone as I think that was to blame for my past issues!

You have not listed anything from Event Manager, Google shows info for your BSOD but that code seems very short!

Have you edited your REGISTRY lately, if so one peep had same issue and restored old REG and it fixed issue?

The reason I didn't know what it was is because I stopped that services so I have no idea.

I didn't do any registry changes that were not on my AMD build.

Hey SightUp.. do you have a SSD? I am getting the same BSOD error. I believe it's being caused by my OCZ Solid 3 drive. I've tried a few things (update maximus gene-z BIOS, updated SSD firmware, uninstalled Intel drivers etc..) and can't seem to get it stable.

I do have a SSD. I have a HyperX one though. What makes you believe it's the SSD though?

In the past 24 hours I've changed my mind. At first I thought it was the SSD as occasionally when it would BSOD Windows wasn't generating a memory.dmp or minidump file (i.e. the SSD was dissappearing).

However my new theory is fluctuation in the vcore voltage is somehow tripping up Windows. To test this, I have the Asus AI Suite installed.. in particular the EPU tool. The EPU tool default is "High performance" which means loud fans and no automatic modifications to the vcore voltage, chipset voltage etc.. I proceed to run Prime95 in this mode for quite some time and the system did not crash. With Prime95 running, I switch EPU settings from "High performance" to "Auto".. within 30 seconds a BSOD would appear. I repeated this about 10 times and the same thing happened every time. "Auto" EPU settings allows the software to downgrade the vcore voltage on the fly.

Looking in Event Viewer after the BSOD there is a critical error "41 Kernel-Power System". I guess it could also mean my power supply is faulty (brand new Seasonic X-560).
