Strix 1070 OC boosting to 1984 stock?!

Hey everyone. Just trying to figure out if I have found the ultimate card or if Im having some kind of error or maybe I dont understand how GPU boost 3.0 works.

I got a Strix 1070 the other day and default, without installing gpu tweak and without adding anything to the core clock, MSI Afterburner is showing me that Im hitting 1984 core clock in Doom.

I have verified by installing GPU Z and checking there.

The box says 1836 is what I should be hitting.

Whats going on here?

That is how boost works, yes. It will simply boost to the max it feels the card is comfortable at given power temp load etc. So, if your temps are good and the load is right it will boost higher than nominal specs sometimes....if temps are high etc maybe lower...

So, all good...working as it should:)

There are some newer one like mine
