Strange issue with 1070 Strix RGB LEDs

So I've had my Asus Strix OC GTX1070 since November of 2016. All of the RGB LED's worked perfectly fine when I got the card, and I've had no issues otherwise with the performance of the card. However, I noticed yesterday that the RGB LEDs seemed to only be partially functioning on one end of the card. Here are some pictures: The first picture is what the card looked like after installing it (properly functioning RGB LEDs), and the second picture is what it looks like now (RGB LEDs only working on one side.

Anybody have an idea of what I could do to fix this? I tried reinstalling/updating the Asus AURA program, GPUTweak, and GPU BIOS, all to no avail. The card performs perfectly fine, no overheating/fan issues, no performance loss in games, etc.

I just want to know if there is some simple fix that I'm completely missing, or if there is no way to fix this. Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

my rx 480 started doing this.. well at least i just noticed it.. the LEDs have been OFF because i dont have a side window on the case it was in.. i switched it to a new case and just like the pic on the first post only about 3 inches of the card is lit up.. i really dont want to rma it as the card still works and it will cost me to ship.. has anyone fixed it with new tubing?

edit.. i took it apart to see whats going on and yes there are 2 tubes that run down the sides of the fan shroud. these tubs are butted up against the leds and light up. over time these tubes have gotten hard and shrank a bit and they no longer touch the leds.. mine were about 1/8th inch away from them.. also the tubes have turned yellow from the heat..

replacing the card isnt really going to fix the problem as sooner or later it will do the same thing again. unless the new cards come with a complete different led system.. everyone with a strix gpu will have this issue eventually.

Good News!
My ordered "sideglow fibre optic cable" arrived and I was able to change the parts today.
Here you se my card with original optic cable (lights set blue):

Here the replacement was built in (lights set blue):

It is not 100% working, because when the light is set to white it turns a little purple in the end of the fibre but I am lucky with the result.

EDIT: Here you see the card with white lights:

The lights are looking even more purple on the pictures made with my phone 😄

Looks great! What diameter tubing did you use? I'm looking to do the same with my 1080.

I have the same problem.

I sent in a technical inquiry to Asus. Its going to suck waiting for my card to come back if they accept the RMA.

I believe there's a link on the 2nd or 3rd page of this thread. I ordered 5 mm fiber optic and it was too thick. I just ordered a strip of 3 mm and we'll see how well that works.

Just another follow up. I found fiber optic lines on amazon for 5 bucks. I purchased 5mm initially which was too big, so I got 3mm which was slightly too small (but works good enough). I believe 4mm would be the ideal replacement. Took me about 5 minutes to replace it. Just removed the existing tubing (being careful not to break any of the plastic tabs), cut the new one to length using cat nail clippers, and installed it. Definitely looks way better now. Good luck everyone! This is definitely not worth an RMA, especially given ASUS's reputation with their RMA department. 5 bucks and 5 minutes and we're good as new.

I had the same issue with an Asus ROG Strix 1080ti and ended up buying a 1M long 4mm light tube from eBay for $5. It took 4 weeks to get here but the repair took 5 minutes. Here are the before and after with a picture of the light tube I bought.

The picture with the fan shroud dissembled shows the old tubes that have turned milky white on the right. The actual LEDs are the 2 at the top of the picture.

The actual eBay part is here https://www.ebay.com/itm/1M-PMMA-Side-Glow-Fiber-Optic-Cable-Car-Light-1-5mm-2mm-3mm-4mm-Durable/202...
