So, I went for the more "tame" EVGA 980 ti SC+

It was a flip out of the Asus Strix and the EVGA SC+ and ended up going for the latter as I was upgrading from a EVGA 780 Classified which has never failed me.

Any other owners of this GPU with a Maximus VIII RoG Mobo that can help me with their OC on this? I am new to GPU clocking as I've only really been into CPU OCing before.

Also, I made this decision within 5 minutes so any reasons why it was a bad choice please shed some light so I can be aware of the shortfalls of this model!

Strix or SC+, either would serve you well. Since you got the SC+ and are wanting to OC it "FURTHER" you may be well advised to ask at the EVGA forum. Sorry, since I don't OC I can't give you direct help but others should be along shortly who can.
