Hi,
I'm calling for other RTX 5080 owners (any card) to compare reported rail voltages in HWmonitor/GPU-Z.
I have an Asus RTX 5080 ROG Astral, which in HWmonitor/GPU-Z reports PCI-E slot voltage and 12v-2x6 power connector voltages at 11.8v steady. It's not like it's 12v and drops under load - it's constantly 11.8v and is stable there idle and load.
What is weird is that Astral model in got an extra sensor monitoring voltage/ampere on the card, and it reports 12v like expected. So what to believe? Nvidia driver readouts or Astral's external ITE-based chip?
I had access to 2 other 5080's for testing (both Gigabyte RTX 5080 Windforce OC), which I tested in the exact same machine.
1st one also reports 11.8v like my Astral. 2nd one reports 12v like expected.
I also observed that the one that reports 12v boost core voltage up to 1050mV by default and 1065mV when pushing the voltage slider to max in Afterburner, where the 11.8v cards generally do not do much more than 1015-1030mV on the core when max'ed (I did read online about some 5080's not boosting that high in core voltage, but not about rail voltage deviations).
I also stumbled across a post on overclock.net with another person having 11.8v reported as rail voltage on his RTX 5080 from Inno3d, making me think that this may be a thing for some RTX 5080's?
Can others check what is reported on their RTX 5080 in GPU-Z or HWinfo?
For the record, my system works fine and is stable (maybe not boosting as high as I dreamed of with the Astral, but it works).
