Rog Strix 4090 Memory Temps

va02gaming

My 4090 rog strix runs quite cool around 62c core and 70c hotspot

My concern is this, my memory temps are upto 82-86c is this normal? I have seen online google some people have between 60-70c memory?

my case is a Corsair 4000d airflow with 6x 120mm fans

Hello va02gaming.

The memory temperature is within spec as it can go up to 100c - 110c.

If you're concerned about the memory temperature, you can install GPU Tweak III and set a fan curve or adjust the fans manually.

Thank you for your reply the other thing I have noticed is the cooler looks as if part of it is not aligned properly I have attatched a picture, does this look normal? also as well since I posted this I keep getting soft crashes where the pc will partially not respond so I click click the windows icon but nothing happens and ctrl, alt delete doesn’t respond ect if I put my other gpu in out of my other system also 4090 but a gainward model that issue instantly goes away I have even just changed from a tuf b650 to a strix x670e-f i forgot to add as well for the crashing issue i done a fresh install of windows and all drivers ect just incase something was conflicting but still the same, i only received it friday so i can send it back for a refund or replacment, i wont lie it has me stressed out haha i know it will get sorted but i am a worrier anyway

Thank you for the picture, I came across another picture to compare and this looks normal.

If you're testing with another gpu that has lower power requirements and all is well with it, this would make me want to question your power supply.

it is strange you mention that because i had also thought that but yes the other gpu has a 450w limit instead of the 500w default limit on the strix, i do however have a corsair RM1000X power supply so i guess that is enough? my cpu is a 7800x3d so quite low wattage cpu around (80w) max from what i read online

ASUS recommends a minimum of a 1000w psu for the ROG Strix RTX 4090, so you should be fine.

ASUS also recommends a 16-pin 12VHPWR pcie power cable. Some 12VHPWR pcie power cables are only 12 pin, you might want to check that your 12VHPWR pcie power cable is 16-pin.

I have tried the one included in the box with 4 separate pcie cables (not daisy chained) I also have a Cablemod Corsair specific cable that also does the same 🙁

Are you using the latest Nvidia driver 537.58?

GeForce Game Ready Driver | 537.58 | Windows 10 64-bit, Windows 11 | NVIDIA

Searching around, I see someone solved their instability issue by setting "Prefer Maximum Performance" in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Yes I have the latest driver and I had also seen that but the problem with that is it keeps the gpu running at full speed constantly which I think overall is probably not good and surely shouldn’t be necessary on a card like this 🙁

Ok,

Something else that might fix it is, in the bios, Adanced tab, Platform Misc Configuration, set "PCIE Native Power Management" to Disabled.
