ROG RTX 4070 Ti led

Hello,

I've got the ROG Strix RTX 4070 Ti OC and when I shutdown my computer a red led lights up :

97087

This led is off when the computer is on, and absolutely no problems with the card. I've setup the ERP in S4+S5 because the pump of the OC stayed up when computer is off, so the led is not active by this way.

Does someone know what is the purpose of this led please ?
Thanks 🙂

Hello,

I was using the connector that came with the video card and 2 PCI-E 8 pin cables and the red light was on even with the pc turned on.

I switched to the new 16 pin cable that came with the PSU, but the red light is still on when the pc is turned on.

I sent an email to asus, but I still haven't had a response!

Can someone help me?

My PSU is Rog Thor 1200w p2

Can you confirm the cable is fully inserted at both the PSU and GPU end? If not, the sense pins may not have contact causing the light to stay on.

They are fully inserted!
I'll update the bios to see if anything changes!

I also checked the recommended power supply for the RTX 4070 Ti along with a Ryzen 9 7950x, and it shows that I need at least 750w and got a Seasonic Focus GX-850. My computer works, though. I can game on it with no problem. I tried Horizon Zero Dawn and NFS Unbound and had no issues playing for 3 hours. I saw somewhere that this is an issue from ASUS that will be fixed in the coming months, but there weren't any confirmations from other sites. I would appreciate it if you could help.

In this user's case replacing the adapter solved the issue, might be worth a try.

Thanks! I just ordered one on Amazon from Cablemod, CableMod Basics RT-Series 12VHPWR PCI-e Cable for ASUS and Seasonic (Black, 16-pin to Dual 8-pin, 60cm); I hope this will remedy my issue also; if not, I might return the GPU. I'll give you an update as soon as I install it 🙂

Excellent, let us know how you get on!

Hi, the LED went after using the cable mod cables; I can finally use it at peace without thinking it has an issue, hahaha! I had a problem with my motherboard lately, so I had to return it and wait for the new one to arrive. Anyway, it's all good now 🙂

It's amazing what a decent cable will accomplish. The 12VHPWR adapters manufactured for NVIDIA by the lowest bidder are hot garbage. But for CableMod... it's their entire business.

Hello guys,

I have the exact same issue as iErick. I think i know what's causing the problem.

My parts list:
- Asus ProArt RTX 4070 Ti
- Gigabyte B650i Aorus Ultra
- Thermaltake Toughpower SFX 750W ATX 3.0 with 12VHPWR 300W native cable.
- Vetroo GV1000 1000W ATX 3.0 with 12VHPWR 600W native cable for testing purposes i have lyng around here.

Tests:
1. TT SFX 750W with 12VHPWR 300W native cable.
Result: Led ON all the time (with the PC either turned on or off).
2. TT SFX 750W with 12VHPWR to 2x8-Pin PSU cable adapter that came with the GPU.
Result: Led ON all the time (with the PC either turned on or off).

Then i switched to the Vetroo PSU:
3. Vetroo 1000W with 12VHPWR 600W native cable.
Result: Led OFF with PC ON! As it should.
4. Vetroo 1000W with 12VHPWR to 2x8-Pin PSU cable adapter that came with the GPU.
Result: Led ON all the time (with the PC either turned on or off).

So i think the main issue here is the GPU is expecting at least 450W from the sense pins, although it works perfectly fine with 300W (Furmark on each test gave the same result around 560fps and 97-102% TDP usage, no performance drop), however i don't have neither a 450W native cable nor a 12VHPWR to 3x8-Pin Adapter to test.

I am expecting a 4090 this week, if it arrives on time i will test with the 4x8-pin adapter it comes with and try with only a 3x8-pin connection to check if the red led turns off to confirm my theory.
