Skull01
Level 7

Very disappointed with my new Astral ROG 5090. Its crashed all games with both the previous driver and the new one. All games keep crashing and I've tried multiple different settings on all of them, the only game that I can play without a problem is the new Assassin`s Creed Shadows.

List of games Crashing:
Tarkov/Tarkov Arena
CoD - Warzone
RDR2
The Last of US Part1 / Part2
Black Myth Wukong
Throne and Liberty
Rust
Cyberpunk 2077
Delta Force

I have tried all settings on all of them: Ultra(max out) Low(everything possible)

Hi @Skull01

Could provide a little more detail on the crashing event? Does the system freeze, is it a TDR event?

Can you also confirm whether the system exhibits the same behaviour at Optimised Defaults following a Clear CMOS via the motherboard rear I/O panel?

Do not enable EXPO overclocking or change any other parameters in order to rule out instability from OC.

Hey @Silent_Scone

Regarding the crashing events you mentioned, I am not 100% sure but I can describe what has been going on below.

I have tested all Nvidia drivers DDU and clean installed them. I have also formatted my computer by reinstalling windows and reset to factory modes for the mother board and removing the battery and putting it back. The only change that has been done on the motherboard configurations have been the memory DOCP I.

The games that are crashing do so in a couple of manners:
1. Some games crash as soon as the match loads (ex: Tarkov, Cyberpunk 2077)
2. Some take a couple minutes before crashing (ex: Rust, RDR2).
3. Other titles will give an error screen (ex: COD WarZone https://imgur.com/a/aoZxHgF )
4. Others will have the game closed out completely (ex: The Last of US Part1 / Part2 https://imgur.com/a/cxwqvA8 ).

I noticed the graphic card will hit 100% ( https://imgur.com/a/vNOMdIF ) usage when these issues occur. Prior to it reaching this point, its running normally (links to screen shots below).

Everything is working fine on my setup. Yesterday i have install back my old graphic card 2080TI and everything worked fine. manage to open and play any game without change anything.

Ironically, that is the one thing you shouldn't do. DOCP / EXPO / XMP is overclocking. Removing any form of overclock is diagnostics 101. You need to test at stock.

@Silent_Scone

I have tested it at stock and stock settings for the motherboard. The same games continuing crashing the same way (and at the same point).

Some games I am able to play with no problems and no crashing but I am not sure why some titles are running perfectly find while others crash non stop.

These are some of the games that are working with no issues:
Assassin's Creed Shadows
Clair Obscur Expedition 33
Albion Online
DayZ
Arena Breakout Infinite
God of War
V Rising

If you are able to assist with any tips to help out or if you think this could be a software/hardware problem and I should try and contact the company regarding the warranty.

Appreciate any insight!

Are you using gpu tweak? I've had to install afterburner as gpu tweak wont let me boot certain games. Its frustrating but as soon as gpu tweak is gone, everything improves. Maybe some compatibility issue.

5090 Astral (Custom Rog Waterblock by Bro Cooling)/ X870E Apex / Thor 1600w Titanium III / Azoth Extreme / Harpe Extreme / Delta 2 / 9950x3d (Signature V3, Direct Die) / DDR5-8000 (Supercool Direct Chip)

Nothing like that here - is that with the OSD, or doesn't it matter?

Which games do you see that behaviour?

Make sure you're on 1.9.5.8 from the support site

What is your PSU? No Power Detector + Warnings from GPU Tweak III?

Open GPU Tweak III

Reduce the core offset to -60

Reduce Power Target to 70%

See if this helps and report back.

@Silent_Scone

I have already tried what you suggested and it continued to crash at the same exact points with the same exact errors (see attached).

My current PSU is RM1200X from Corsair.

Today I ran my old graphic card (2080TI) during the entire day and did not have any crashing errors while I used the same specs and drivers.

If you have any new advise or idea of how I should proceed it would be a great help. Not sure if I should contact the warranty or not.

Crashing at the same points in games, so it's not erratic?

Have you tried running 3DMark Stress tests like Steel Nomad and Port Royal? They will loop 20 times and give you a pass rate based on consistency.
