Hi.

I'm receiving my STRIX 3090 OC on friday and I'm not my psu will cope with my setup

I have a Corsair 750w hx750i platinum.

My rest of setup is 8700K overclocked to 4.9, strix z370-e motherboard, 2x nmv2 samsung 1gb 970 pro.

I plan to overclock the strix rtx 3090 as well.

Should I upgrade the psu to corsair platinum hx850w or hx1000w? (Future proof counts).

Thank you.

OCing these GPUs can draw well over 350W alone...with an OCd CPU and important headroom...you want to get a PSU that will be in the sweet spot of power delivery...not near its maximum. A good quality PSU is often important too....a quality 750 or 850 might well be better than a budget 1000W

Personally I'd go for the 1000W for redundancy and longevity

Thank you Arne.

The Strix 3090 overclocked will take over 400W. That's why I'm not sure if my hx750w platinum will handle it.

I'll get the same model corsair hx1000w platinum if buy one psu.

Anyone has tested this card so I can have a guide if my psu will be ok?

A decent OE 750 to 850W should be more than sufficient with headroom to spare on that setup.

The calculators for psu I found gave me around 560W so with overclock will get to 650W aprox.

Will be enough with my psu? Corsair HX750W Platinum. Even with my psu exceeding the power consumption l, I read that it's always better to have some extra wattage. Not sure if 100W headroom with be enough.

Hi Man, Niels from The Netherlands here,
I have about the same issue, HX750i, Intel 5930k (6core12t) and an ordered Strix 3090 OC.

I am scared for the 480W bios of the Strix3090, and I also plan to watercool it when the Aquacomputer waterblocks will hit the market.
I think the HX750i is a very good PSU but its a very, very tight fit for such power hungry components...

3 days ago I bought a 4month used Corsair AX1600i for 250 euro's.
I wanna be future and upgrade-proof.
And I dont wanna (near) kill such expensive components.

If I was in your shoes i would go for a new HX1000i?HX1200i or a very good second hand AX1200/AH1600i.
And dont go for something like 850Watt, Its almost the same as 750 and you will regret!
Dont let you PSU walk on his toes!

Good luck!

Thank you very much.

I'll go for AX1000 or Seasonic TX-1000. They are both the same in the inside I think.

Should be plenty.

Cheers!

Good choice, both are perfect!
